Brass pods

About this design:

Loved my copper pea pods last summer, so I tried them in Brass. A little harder to work with, but overall was very gratified with the outcome. Made this to go with my brass choker I posted earlier. Pink and gold peaerls, rhodonite, and czech glass.

brass, czech glass, freshwater pearl, rhodonite.

Love these as much as your copper ones as well! They are so realistic. Such fine metal work. May I ask what gauge brass you used? I just got some samples of different gauges and need to practice before I even begin to make something like this.
The pearls and rhodonite look wonderful with the brass!

Gorgeous metal work! And the brass is a perfect compliment to these pearls and stones.

These were made with 24 gauge brass. You can make them with thicker brass, but they will be heavier. I don’t think I would go any thinner than 26 gauge because when you fold form you stretch the metal and thinner metal may not have enough thickness to stretch.

Totally gorgeous!!! This is my favorite style of metal work–when you mimic nature. I would buy these in a heartbea—if Hubby would let me open my purse…. :)

Thanks for you nice comments. Metalwork is really my thing. I am off to ‘art school’ in two weeks to take another metal working class so maybe I will have something interesting to post?
