For My Father

About this design:

My dad died in 2007. This winter, I found a photo album showing him in his late teens and early twenties. I copied pictures for the locket, the front showing him at age 22 in a dapper white suit and cap; the back, holding a picture of him slightly younger, skiing, equipped with spruce slats, leather-strap bindings and bamboo poles! The piece is kind of frilly, but he grew accustomed to girly ways from having a wife and two daughters. He loved white and red, lots of light, and worked with metals for most of his life. Miss you, Daddy!

Industrial Chic locket; Grace rondelles and heart; windowpane rectangles; Czech silver night rondelles; windowpane rectangles; 6mm medium-gray glass pearls; 8mm gray-scale pearls (LB); gunmetal chain (LB); antique silver clasp (LB)

A wonderful tribute, Laud – - especially liked your comment that your Dad got “accustomed to girly ways” from being surrounded by women. Betcha he liked being surrounded by all of you – - -

He did. And he was fortunate to gain a son-of-the-heart in one nephew who chose him as father role model. The nephew turned out great, very like my father. (Oddly enough, he’s surrounded by women–wife and daughter, too.)
