Blue Leaf & Flowers

About this design:

My other Blue Leaf Necklace. I've had the polymer bead canes for...I have no idea....1990. I found them when I went through my stuff. Cant believe they are still good. Some of the slices fell apart so I made round beads and the little rondell shape beads. Then after I baked them I painted them with my favorite revlon nail polish to give them a little shine.

Photos of other rolls of cane I have.

Blue leaf ceramic pendant. Aqua polymer clay beads. Aqua cube glass beads. White seed beads. Silver toggle. Brown S-lon cord.

This is adorable, and soooo summery. I’ve never heard of slice and bake beads. It sounds like so much fun. Can I ask how you get the holes in them?
(Love love the frosted glass beads) :)

Love the color, of course, but those bead slices are fascinating. What a cool concept!

Slice and bake clay..lol. Never thought of it that way. Its called Friendly Clay Millefiori Cane. It came from a company called AMACO® which stands for.American Art Clay co. Directions say to slice it and press 6 slices on a plain round ball of clay to make a round bead. I didn’t plain polymer clay. Or rather I have some Fimo that is now a rock. So.I decided just roll it out smaller and do thick slices. The way I got the hole was.I just slid a long piece of wire through the beads. I put about 8 on a wire to bake pulled the wire out when done. I’m pretty sure I’ve had this since at least 1989. But I’ve seen people roll out canes like this recently.

Bad manners. Meant to say thanks everyone. And Nancy those aqua glass beads are some of my favorites. One of those clearance deals where.I bought 4-5 strands.

I just saw one of these canes online a week or so ago and I almost bought it. They suggested you do it exactly like you did. See, MacGyver can figure out how to do it right without directions. :) Love the necklace!!
