Copper Leaves

About this design:

I had the Patricia Healy leaves and the pink opals for some time, but when the moonstone came on sale, I knew what I had to do with them. All elements came from LB except the pearls and pink glass, which were part of Nancy's stash.

PH copper leaves; moonstone; pink opal; Czech glass rounds, leaves and hearts; glass pearls; seed beads, antique copper clasp

I’m really pleased with this one. The photos don’t really get the subtleties of color. There’s more pink in the “flower” elements at the bottom, and the moonstones have a lot of character.

Not sure I like the dangly parts at the sides. Might be better just in an oval shape. Should I restring?

I think it’s perfect! Personally I like the dangly bits. I think it adds character. One of the first pieces I did that I sat back and went, oh wow I really like this! Had lit bits of dangles here and there. Like it had it’s own story I was telling as I strung it.

Wish we could edit, what we just submitted. Suppose to say, It had bits of dangles here and there. Almost like the piece had it’s own little story I was telling as I made it.

Laud, I can only imagine how beautiful this must be ‘in person’. I love your choice of copper with the moonstone! The dangles as they are now, draw my eyes down and away from the two upper copper leaves. This could be just my eyes :) or perspective. Maybe that’s a good thing, as it draws you to the main focal. Perhaps smaller versions of the dangles (if such components exist) might not do the same thing?

So pretty and inventive! Love the design! :)

Lois, you’re right, of course. The large dangles do sort of fight with the leaves, but I’m pretty stuck on having them. What I’m unsure about are the little dangly bits above and below the side leaves.

I love this Laud…but I think the little dangly bits need to go! Then it’s another perfect Laud creation!

  12. Beadzilla aka Wanda

I guess it depends on how it fits when worn. If it makes the leaves not lay flat, or the little dangly things stick out etc…

Laud! It’s so pretty and delicaate. But also bold with the PH leaves. I love the little leaves as petals to the blossoms!

Love how your use of the subtle pinks goes wonderfully well with the copper components. I’d never have put those together. Thanks for opening up my mind with this beautiful piece.

I personally like the little dangles because to me they look like leaf buds. :) I wouldn’t touch a thing. It’s amazingly beautiful as is. :)
