What Shade of Yellow am I?

About this design:

I ended up with these really large yellow ceramic beads. **Note to self: DO NOT shop for beads at 3:30 AM when the little kitten is awake and annoying you!**
The first design [the last picture] focused on the yellow-ness so I used yellow beads. But when I wore it, I kept seeing green undertones in the yellow ceramic. So I took it apart and re-did it using stones with more green in them. I like the new design [first picture] better because it's simpler. I think I was trying to get too much "stuff" into one piece and that bothered me too.
I *LOVE* the effect of the 2 little flowers. I'll have to use that again.

BTW: This answers the question: Why would I buy strands of beads that are so similar? Ah ha!!! Because they really aren't that similar...

Large yellow-ish ceramic bead. Lucite flower beads. Some kind of 10mm agate (???) beads. Lots of silver findings.

Wow! This is great! I like the final result and that lobster clasp is so cute and goes perfectly with this design. I agree with you about the effect of the lucite flowers. Perfectly done! Oh and by the way you’re a nut! :D

I like both designs, but for me, the original design is more appealing– Go figure! LOL The lucite flowers are perfect with it.

Both are great, but I like the one with the green beads more. The focal stone looks creamy to me from the pictures. So might also work well with brown tones. Lovely design Julie!!

I like the final result the best too. It seems dressier somehow and Perrier with the green beads.

I spy, with my little eye..2 very cool designs.
I also spy Tree Agate and Dragon Vein Agate,I think? Both designs look great to me. I do prefer the 2nd one slightly, because I like all the smooth round stones. I agree about the flowers..very nice!!

LOVE IT! The 2nd design more than the 1st but the 1st is not bad. And yes the flowers really looke good.

Can I just say that this is the best photograph of all the ones you posted yesterday. Perfect light & background for this. No shadows and the colors look great.

    @gail…you are funny.

Julie, I love both designs (too bad you couldn’t do both)! The focal looks creamy on my screen, too. It’s beautiful no matter what you pair it with! Love those little lucite flowers! :D

@Gail — I thought perhaps you meant the sparkling water….LOL

@Nancy — I play “Eye Spy” all the time with my 3 grandgirls! LOL

    Julie Shane says:

Lynn, I have 7 more of those yellow-ish beads. So I may do one with bronzite. Hurray! Maybe do one with lots of funky summer colors.

I could not “keep” both of these because I wanted the little flowers. I don’t remember where I got them… but I ordered 1 or 2 of several different colors just to see if I liked them. I was being a Czech-glass “snob” and wasn’t sure if I could “DO” lucite.
    Yep… Lesson learned….. the hard way…..

    franny says:

hi Julie….i really like tribal look created with rondelles & spacers……both are great but you’ve just explained why you can’t do both ….. so you’ve created a sweet corsage for the cracked agate (to me it looks peachy & green)

  15. gembeans
    gembeans says:

I’m stealing both designs–I like them both! I also shop in the middle of the night with 3 cats aggravating me and have ended up with similar beads (and sometimes ones I don’t even want)! Don’t have large yellow ceramics but I have some large green and some gold kind of ugly hearts not sure what to do with and lots of cute LIMA lucite… gives me ideas.

  16. gembeans
    gembeans says:

Oh yea, I love the idea of the focal with bronzite!
