Salsa With a Twist

About this design:

I was going to upload this design, then I saw Laud's new piece "Wave". I feel totally inferior now! LOL Anyway--the temp is in the 90s and the humidity is high...we call it "air you can wear". I felt this bracelet suited the heat and humidity! LOL

Components: goes! 6/0 light and dark orange and red seedbeads, 4mm green stone beads, 8mm green glass beads, olivine patterned coins beads, antique gold rectangular metal beads, round antique gold beads, 6mm red stone beads, faceted red rondelles, 6mm yellow glass bead, brown waxed linen cord, gold textured metal button for closure...whew!

The first word that came to mind was SALSA… then I noticed your title! :) Love all the textures.
It’s super hot and humid here too. You can “smell” the water in the air.

I love the colors. I did one with reds and chartreuse, but the rose peach is inspired, and the accent beads are so interesting!

N4B, oooh spicy! Really like these colors together. I’ve seen so many great bracelets on this site lately (a lot of them your’s).

I’m going to have to re-think not wearing them. Every once in a while I remember that I have some great bracelets and I put one on. But most often I space them out. Maybe if I hang them someplace obvious I’ll get a clue.

    Anyway this is another winner!

Thank you Karen, Julia, Laud and Nanci. No greater praise is there, than that which comes from your peers! Nanci–I am all about bracelets! LOL I rarely wear necklaces, as they just seem to annoy me after an hour or so! I like them, but its just easier for me to wear bracelets–I guess that’s why I’ve made a ton of them! LOL

    I love it…bright, colorful, summery.
I totally umderstand the inferiority complex that hits.when Laud post a new But then I think to myself ” self..your jewelry is also attractive in a different way”.

Loved your comment about thinking your bracelet was “inferior” – - but it’s really spectacular and just the kind of jewelry for a really hot day. Elegant is great, but spicy is sometimes even better – - -

  18. Laud
    Laud says:

That’s the thing about jewelry: There is no one style. Anything from rags to diamonds qualifies. The only guideline I use is to keep a constant mood within one piece. This one is cheerful, lively, bright–perfect.

Yum!!! Love the colors. Wonderful design. I have a question. I have used waxed linen only once and hated it. Thought it was too sticky and gummy. Is this true? So many are using it lately, maybe I should give it another try. I. Really like your design.

Gramnan….I can certainly relate to your “Sticky” concerns about waxed linen! I was the same way at first, and just stuck it back in the drawer. Then when the 1mm leather cording didn’t work with most of my beads, I went back to give waxed linen another try. I have used it alot ever since, especially on designs like this one. I have no trouble at all with stringing the beads. I would advise using the thinner 2 ply one. Let me know how it goes!!
