Encased Cabochon

About this design:

An amber colored stone cab was gently enfolded in a filigree butterfly's wings. Looks a bit like a scarab to me.
The necklace was finished with golden translucent horn beads and brass findings.

What a terrific idea – - I’ve often seen cabochons that interested me, but didn’t want to “set” them. Love what you did with the butterfly filigree, and your whole design is truly unique and beautiful !

This is fabulous! I’ve never looked as cabochons because I too didn’t want to deal with setting them. But now…. you’ve given me new inpiration! Love this design.

Glad you enjoyed this design, even if I spelled ‘cabochon’ wrong!
And Peggy…yes, I used a dab of epoxy glue on the back of the cab, before I folded the wings over. Just for security…although this cab isn’t going anywhere.
