Raining again tonight, so no new pics….

Asia and Deb, I don’t tend to think of earrings either…but I’ve found at shows many people would like a necklace/earring set, and I’ve lost sales because I didn’t have a matching pair of earrings. Also, they can be produced inexpensively and if priced right can help you at least make your booth fee. I sell just as many earrings as necklaces…bracelets tend not to sell much at all…

I agree that I too have lost sales if only I had matching earrings. It’s a simple thing to do but I often struggle with the design without being too simple. So I get lazy and don’t make matching earrings at all. I’m trying to get out of that rut!

I want a BigKick soooo bad! I think I’ll save up for one. These are stunning! I also love Patinas, you did a beautiful job! =^____^=

Also, I too have noticed bracelets aren’t a big seller, so I usually do them only if commissioned. I think it’s because, especially with non elastic bracelets, wrist sizes and preference for looseness are so varied and specific. ( some people, like me, have 5.5 inch wrists and teensy hands-size 5 ring-and bracelets fall off, whereas others have larger wrists and need a larger bracelet, or larger hands and like a loose dangly bracelet, like the customer who commissioned the bracelet I showed on here not too long ago.) Earrings are a BIG seller for me, probably because you can wear them with so many things and they tend to be my cheaper items. =^__^=

I find it weird that bracelets aren’t a big seller…. The reason being is so many turtorials are for bracelets and there are so many different styles, multi-strand, wrap, braided, silk…the list is endless. I will also buy a bracelet before a necklace any day. With a bracelet you don’t have to worry if it fits the neckline of a shirt. And you also don’t have if someones eyes are.actually focused on your anatomy and not your jewelry. I myself have 2-3 times as many bracelets as necklaces.

  17. Gail Layne
    Gail Layne says:

That IS odd. Or maybe I am… I wear bracelets all the time, everyday and not the same ones. Necklaces depend much more on what I’m wearing.

love that modern Moroccan look you’ve achieved with your patinated copper tile, Susie!….a local jeweller tells me earrings are his ‘bread & butter’ & people will pay more for a few beads on a hook comparatively to, say a necklace (eg.AU$40 for a pair of earrings cf. AU$80 for a necklace with heaps more beads & labour), so keep those earrings coming, Suze!….also great for impulsive buys & quick, cheaper new look!

  19. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

Hi all! I thought I’d resurrect the topic of bracelets and earrings…I have 3 bracelets that I wear often…one of memory wire, one of leather and pearls(my fave!), and one a leather wrap with mixed beads…I get compliments on all, but they don’t equal sales. Seems that necklaces are out of reach for lots of people…but I often find that someone was “moved” to purchase a necklace…so some days are good, and others not so much.
Earrings seem simple enough….I tend to group them by price…the less pricey ones sell the most(obviously) The others are hit and miss…seems people want to buy the more complicated ones for the same price as the simple ones…ain’t gonna happen!
