Survivor's Song

About this design:

This weekend provided opportunity to look back over a few days and some powerful experiences in my life, and look at their impact on who I am today. As I was working on this piece, it suggested its name to me based on those thoughts and experiences. I love the rich royal blue of the "lapis" dyed kiwi stone (actually bought them this weekend thinking they were real lapis, but that's okay), which suggested freedom to me; the original name was going to be Freedom Song--but the longer I thought, the more it insisted on Survivor's Song. I guess the symbolism is in the gold: even against the dark of the stone, the gold shines refined and pure, like when people come through rough times. I also added dark Swarovski bicones that matched the kiwi stone for a little sparkle. More pictures on my blog:

Lovely! I have tubes like this in lapis and I, too, think they demand a simple, elegant style like this! :)
