The many colors of Griffie

About this design:

I've been enjoying jewelry making for a few years now, learning a lot here and feasting my eyes on all of your beautiful designs daily, but I have never posted any of my works here. This is my latest passion, bead embroidery that captivated my heart. Introducing one of my most favorite cuffs to day. I made it for a dear friend a few months ago.

Abalone cabochon, coin pearl, Turquoise cabochon (Nevada), freshwater pearls, Japanese and Czech seed beads, Czech glass beads, brass charms, leather, cuff base.

So happy you are sharing your creations! Your design and colors are fabulous, as is your embroidery work.
Coincidentally, I’ve been working on an embroidered cuff bracelet using an abalone cab. for my sister – but, it’s FAR LESS intricate as yours. I should only hope to finish it in the next decade or so :)
    Yours is just gorgeous!

Ladies, THANK YOU all for your warm welcome and all your kind words, I really appreciate such a friendly receiption! I just love bead embroidery. When I sit down with my project I forget about time and the world – time flies for me. This cuff took me about 2 weeks total, but I only work a couple of hours a day, and as soon as I don’t “hear” or “see” beads and stones telling me where they want to be put anymore, I quit for the day. And YES, there is this part to it that it is difficult (a tiny bit) to part with my “babies”. But then I think how much joy they will bring to their new owner and it is all worth it. Thank you ALL again and again, you beautiful talented inspired artists!

After seeing this work of art,I can’t wait to see more. Stunning. Do you follow a pattern or just decide as you go along?I was breathless when I saw this.Just wowowowoowow!!!

  14. Nata S
    Nata S says:

I do not follow a pattern – it is all inspiration. I only know what stones I want to use. So, I start with one and go from there. Whatever feels good. Soon I realize that beads and stones tell me what wants to go where, all I have to do is to follow :) . Thank you again and again! I will be posting more. I do work slow and take my sweet time :) . I’ll see what else I can find in my photos folder in the meantime.

These are my colors! How wonderful! What do you use as backing material? I’ve tried bead embroidery on leather, and well, it’s just too hard to get the needle through!

Vibrant Jewels, “officially” bead embroidery should be done of “Lacie (Lacy?) Stiff Stuff”, but I find it way overpriced ($3/small piece), small size and only comes in white. Sooooo, I go to Hobby Lobby and buy hard felt at $.79 for A4 size sheet, and it does come in colors. The needle goes through like a music :) . Enjoy!

  25. DayLily aka Del
    DayLily aka Del says:

That is a good idea about the felt. The needle does not go thru too well on the lacy stiff. I will try the hard felt. Thanks for the tip.
