Colorful Bracelets

About this design:

After I cut my fingers up with the wire work I did (seriously, like papercuts on my thumbs and 2 other fingers!) - I switched to some metal pieces in my stash. And bravely added some fabric!

copper sheet, Vintaj embossing dies, Vintaj patinas, various glass beads, sari silk ribbon

These are beautiful — especially love the focal pieces! :D How do you make those? (Not expecting step-by-step, but maybe there is a name for the technique or something so I could find tutorials? Thank you! ^^ )

Thanks for all the comments! I am falling in love again with the Patinas.
@ErinM this is plain copper that is cut to size and placed in an embossing die. Look up Vintaj Big Kick (LB has it) as well as info on I painted it with Vintaj patina colors ( also LB) then buff it so the raised parts of the design get the paint removed.
@GrannyNancy – got the clasp at a local bead store (Bead Stash). Forgot I had that!

Stunning-I can’t pick a favorite! I hear you on the wire cuts-my fingers are always killing me after a day of jewelry making! That’s why I have to rest sometimes-that and early onset arthritis due to double jointed fingers. Your pieces are always lovely, and these are no exception! Your work with copper is so inspirational-I can’t wait to see what you create next. Keep it up! =^__^=

I love both, can’t decide! I wish I could incorporate fabric and make it look that good, but I never order any sari silk, and haven’t found a good substitute… About the copper — I just feel how it creeps into the back of my mind, to burst out as an new idea someday… :-) Thanks!

Wow, more thanks to you all. What I decided to do with the patina is ignore most of the suggestions on using it. :D .

I dab it on with q-tips or sponges, I mix colors before using, I paint with it like water colors (with the glaze), layer it, and heat set with my hair dryer.

Usually adding fabric is not my thing, which is why I mentioned it. It’s a challenge to myself. And you Monica!

I love what you’ve done with both of these! Your patina work is awesome too. The orange is so vibrant and happy, yet I love the blue against the copper and the ribbon you added. Nice touch! :)

I feel your woes of metal working. Most days I have calluses, cut and cracks all over. For me it’s exacerbated by my eczema (since childhood) and the fact that I live in the desert. Dry skin and the desert don’t mix. I can’t wait to get back to Florida where my skin was sooo happy! (and me too) ;)

These are so gorgeous. I love this look for jewelry making but concerned that the patina can rub off or discolor a clients clothing so have never used the patina and copper combo. Would love to try it if a bit more secure about the long term use. Thanks. Any info would help.
