Natural Disaster

About this design:

While doing this fairly simple design...I broke my flat-nose pliers! So sad! These have been in my hands for over 10 years. (sniff)

Brass that I cut to shape and curved, peridot chips and lemon chrysophase.

So sad to learn of the demise of your trusty pliers, Cindy. Have you thought about mounting the remains in a frame to hang over your work area ?? And by the way, the earrings are really stunning !

These are just gorgeous Cindy! While I am sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved pliers, they performed magnificently in thier final hour! LOL I like Crazy’s idea for the frame tribute!

So like your earrings…bet they make soft music when you walk!
( and though your pliers retired….their new part time job could be ear wire forming via their handles )

No doubt about it, you must frame or display your beloved pliers to commemorate their loyal service over the years. And by the way the earrings are great!

As always another great design, so sorry about your trusty friend…I have had some of my tools for over 20 years. I like the idea of framing them,on the bright side isn’t it the first day of spring? what a great day to retire.

The earrings are fabulous! Love those two stone and they’re wonderful with the brass! What gauge sheet did you use?
So sorry about the demise of the pliers! The frame idea is hilarious but fitting for a trusted old workhorse! I feel your pain, I have several sets of pliers but always seem to reach for that one pair….

Bummer! I had to brake down and buy a new pair of wire cutters. My fault because I used them to cut annealed steel wire. A big no-no.
    Love the classy, elegant earrings!

Cindy, those earrings are gorgeous! Sorry about your pliers. It is hard to used used to a new grip, after all that time. It seems silly, but it’s not.

Earrings are gorgeous!!! Pliers so sad!!! A pretty screen print ‘T’ with the earrings; a gold shadow-box for the pliers

    A moment of silence for your pliers . . . . . . .
A limitless “HOORAY!” for your gorgeous earrings!

Your earrings really are lovely. Love that peridot green with the brass gold. Would never have thought of using a hanging strand of green across your brass parallelogram shape, but I think it works beautifully. Very creative. Thanks for sharing.

You all crack me up, but I do appreciate the sentiments! I did cry out “oh nooooooo!” when they snapped, and it was just closing a jump ring! I must have done something terribly wrong before, but I can’t think of what, to have weakened them. Maybe I will frame them, or do something to repurpose!

The earrings were simple, but my original idea had me putting the peridot on an eye pin and connecting it to the top & bottom jump rings to hold it to the curve. Well, I put the beads on a head pin on auto-pilot I guess! D’oh!

The brass is 24g I think (pretty sure). I made the ear wires too.

Anyway, thank you all for the compliments and condolences! :P

Gorgeous earrings, these are stunning! I love the dangly with the metal pieces-really pretty to look at, and very versatile wear-wise. Keep it up! =^__^=

    As for the poor pliers-
I, too, have felt your loss before-I broke my favorite wire cutters last year, but luckily found more on eBay, and am happily cutting away with them. ( They broke because they fell under the couch and when someone tried moving the couch, it accidentally landed on them-the couch is solid leather and wood.)

I agree with the suggestion that you should frame these beloved pliers. They have served you well and faithfully and deserve a place of honor so they can inspire your other pliers.

Now about those ear rings… WOW and double WOW! This design is a winner! Love ‘em! :D
