Beaded Hair Combs

About this design:

My best friend is expecting her second child and I am over the moon about it. She loves wearing stretchy beaded hair combs but the only colors she's ever able to find are brown and black and she really wanted purple to match her wardrobe (which is very purple). I decided to make this for her as a congratulations gift.

Elastic cord, orchid seed beads, pearls, goldstone, czech fire polished rounds. I used a lot of leftover items from my stash to construct this.

Okay, I give up – how do you use combs that are connected? They (it?) are pretty.

Lol! They are used like spider clips in your hair to hold it up :-)

This is so pretty! LOL! I too did not quite get how you wear it but now that I see your link, it’s awesome!I’m always looking for a new way to up-do my long hair. Where did you find the comb pieces or did you make them? I’ve never seen any like them before. :)

I bought them on ebay but…if you have some wire skills, you can try this:

Thanks WWS. I was thinking of making some more in different colors. It really didn’t take long at all to make this one, just a matter of getting the hang of it. I’ve had some requests for beaded hair combs so I’ve done a little too much research. ;)

and you combs are done with stretchy cord. I’ve seen those and even bought some for my friend about 5 yrs. ago. Your hair has to be t-h-i-c-k to use them or they just fall out; hers is too thin.

Syd, it was just the site I found. I’m from NY. Did you ever get the link I msg’d you?
My bestie has very curly hair, but its short so these work awesome for her. They are great for a pretty way of holding up hair. We both have young babies so our hair is always up, and its nice to do different things with it.
I, personally, cannot wear these. My hair is down to my waist and its thin, but I have a lot. This holds up maybe 1/4 of it.
I used elastic cord, not sure the size, but its not thick. I used one of hers as a guidebut they had a cord that was frayed, not sure what it was.
Thank you all so much for your kind comments.
