Ocean Waves

About this design:

I'm proud of this one because I learned a few things as I made it and because I wanted the spirals to look like waves breaking, which I think they do.

See that V shape in the middle? I saw that effect in a shop, but the artist said she'd forgotten how to do it. I figured it out by experimentation.

And I finally worked up the courage to use the patina set I got for Christmas 2012 to highlight the GG octopus/fish clasp I'd been hoarding since around that time. Now I think I'd like to try metal inks. Anyone have advice about those?

Green Girl clasp, Toho beads, clear glass rounds, silver crimp covers, beading line and wire

I recently bought some alcohol inks from LB but haven’t tried them yet — still decided what I want to do exactly.

Oh. My. Goodness. Just fabulous Laud! I adore the swirls and the colors are gorgeous!
I use alcohol inks a lot. They are very similar to the patinas only more transparent. They dry very fast!! But you can reactivate them with another drop of the ink or a drop of water if you’re not done manipulating them. They layer well and you can mix colors also. That’s all I can think of… :-)

The ‘V’ shape; okay I see it, but what’s it about?
    Why would you do that?

    Laud says:

Syd, in the necklace I saw, the V was at the bottom and had a pendant focal attached. Without the V, the swirls just make a round shape, which is fine for bracelets but doesn’t work as well with a necklace.

Makes it reverse the swirl. :) Looks good!!!
