Wild Chervil

About this design:

At the second and final weekend of class, I learned how it should be done, and here is the result! You shouldn't fuse the wire directly onto the plate as I'd done: first fuse the pieces of wire together, then fuse pieces of fusing silver with a bit lower melting temp onto the underside of the wire (now being in one piece). Then it is much easier to fasten to the plate without pieces of fusing silver flying around! Shape it so it fits onto the metal plate (file and scratch both wire and plate to expose fresh metal; in the shape of the flower onto the plate). Then put the flower in place, and fuse! Whew, not sure I can repeat this at home!

Sterling silver plate (about 1 mm),sawed into shape and bent using a doming punch and block (thanks for the words, wikipedia!). Sterling silver wire (1.2 mm, I think).

And did someone just say silver is hard to photo!? Totally agree, nearly got grey hairs with this. I wanted the pendant to show, not my mirrored image…

I thought I had commented on this back in April but guess not!?! Anyway, I LOVE how this turned out. I am going to ask my family to consider signing me up for a class like this for my Christmas gift. They always ask me for ideas and I can’t think of a more useful gift. :) I am in awe of your metallurgical prowess and your creativity!
