Bluebird Pendant Necklace

About this design:

My first attempt at anything other than simple birthstone pieces. I used a pendant designed by Jess. I suggested a bluebird like the ones I used to see in Colorado. She created one that was perfect. And she's duplicated it in various ways for me. Its lovely.

But I don't know how much I like the whole thing. Should I have used just chain? There are things that need fixing so I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

The only LB product are some tiny blue agate beads. All the rest are from my many stash from many years of making very classic pieces. I'm not sure where I got the chain.

I for get how to edit what I wrote but this is 26″ long, not including the pendant, which is 1 1/2″ and can’t decide if maybe thats too long.

I like it how it is :) just chain would be a little boring for me. And asymmetry is really ‘in’ right now.

Also like the combination of beads and chain – - is this for you, Nancy ?? I think it depends on who will wear it – - I like shorter necklaces, especially when they are this delicate. But it’s a beautiful piece !

Nancy, I LOVE the little beads and butterflies!! I’d do both sides in that with the chain in the back. Or do dangles on the chain. The colors you put with the bluebird bring in out fabulously!!

It’s perfect the way it is – OR, it’d still be perfect if you added dangles to the chain; there’s no one way to do a piece of jewlery, BECAUSE – everyone out there is an INDIVIDUAL, not a clone and everyone likes something different

Nancy, it looks FABULOUS!:) The beads and colors you used are absolutely perfect! It turned out gorgeous! I agree with Gail too! I think you should do both sides in the beads and put the chain in the back. I think the colors you chose bring out the colors of the pendant even better!:)

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I have another pendant that Jess made along with bluebird beads. So I’ll be experimenting with others and keep this “trial run” for myself. I might shorten it. I’ll try wearing it as is and see if I like it that long.

I have some other ideas but when I come back to Jess’s pendant and bluebird beads, I’ll consider doing the beads all the way around or partially with the chain just around the neck area.

I love those colors together – the blues of course, and the greens and copper. It was great fun. I had better pictures but lost them some how.

Thanks again everyone. I’m very appreciative of everyone’s opinions since other than one “Hootie” necklace, I’ve not done much in this area. I do have a gorgeous pendant beaded necklace I made years ago using a peace stone pendant that also had some lavender in it. Some day I’ll include that in picture when I do another similar.

Nancy, this is so beautiful, I’m puzzled by the length unless you are extremely tall, but I really like you choice of beads and the asymmetry, you made Jess proud :D

I think this is lovely and delicate, leave it as it is, on just a chain would be way too boring, I love it how you’ve made it!

Love the focal piece. Looks very much like the enamel work from Brumm Studio in Northern Michigan. Nice work!
