Mixed Metal Etching

About this design:

An experiment in etching with very inexpensive package of metal blanks. Some were silver colored, some 'copper', some brass. The silver base metal didn't work out so well, but SURPRISE! The copper colored ones became a mixed metal etching! Where there was ink resist, the copper coating of the blank remained. All the rest revealed the brass core of the metal piece. Very cool. I still oxidized the pendant with LOS and gave it a good scrubbing and polish. These look great finished up with either more copper or brass or both!
The last etched heart pendant was hand cut and shaped by me from pure copper sheet metal.

Metal blanks, Brass, Copper, turquoise, glass and carnelian beads.

Love them all, just like Angela, I’m going to try etching when I have some time, can’t purchase ferric acid in Canada ( some restrictions ), but I’m going to try with salt water using electrochemistry, wish me luck :D
