Summer Ice

About this design:

Summer Ice was one of my first designs of this season. The weather in Acapulco is very hot so as I started to combine my beads, I was drawn to the whites, clear, ice-like beads. As my color pailette began to blend, I realized the climate heat I felt influenced the selection of my beads. For instant, what I had meshed together were clear icy-looking glass beads, looking like the chips of left-behind glaciers, a cloudy, white glass bead, the color of snowflakes, a strand of silver plated spacers, shining millions of diamonds as does a full moon's reflection on an icy midnight ocean. Because I was sensing heat, ice, and ocean, I chose a wavy Rolo chain that would blend into the waves of my glacier beads. So was created my Summer Ice Necklace. It is a 30+ long necklace comprised of four different strands, each holding one style bead. The chain is made so that if you want a mid-short length, it can be done. Whenever I look at the pictures of this design, I think refreshing, cool, glaciers and sparkling snowflakes! My cool Summer Ice.

Materials: Satin metal Rolo chain, tiny silver plated rectangle chain, Satin metal crasp, 10mm clear and dotted Czech glass beads, Czech clear ice chips, pressed glass. Shiny 4mm, pewter metal rondelle separaters, 7mm round glass frosted bead.

Very nice combination. I like your description of how this idea evolved from a concept in your mind to a finished necklace. I love the little glass chips radiating the feel of cooling ice especially on a hot day in the summer. Look forward to seeing some more of your designs! :)

Thanks, everyone. Wow. Let’s see. I am never loss for words, and I love accumulating all kinds of beads together on my work table. I get so many ideas, I have to stop myself. Otherwise, I’d have 20 packets of “to make” and not get anything finished. I do sell on Etsy. Thanks for asking. Actually I am a newbie to Etsy, but I have been making jewelry and selling them here and there, in a few specialty stores, too. I am working on a display for you all to see. This site is sooo inspirational. Love you all! Ty again. See u soon.
