Birds and...'Flies

About this design:

Well, I was at it again with the wire! Made a smaller Hummingbird pin, a couple of dragonflies as pins and one pendant, and a couple more butterflies. I used pearls and gemstones, Czech glass, seed beads.

Artistic wire, fresh water stick pearls, lime green round pearls, Czech glass

Cindy–these are all wonderful! This hummie is even more colorful than the last! How did you solve the problem of affixing the pin on the back? I am in love with the dragonflies too! The pearls and different shapes add so much dimension to their bodies. Fantastic job!! :)

Oh you gals! Thank you all so much for all the compliments, especially “stinkin cute”! LOL!

I think my favorite dragonfly is the one I call “peas and carrots”. :) The hardest part about creating the DFs is the wings… I started out trying to make the whole thing from one piece of wire; body first then wings. But the wings didn’t lay right. I settled on making the body and head, then attaching wings before I wire any beads on. The wings are one piece of wire, that attach once on each side of the body before I use the thinner wire to add structure.

I looked at so many pictures of dragonflies to try to capture their beauty and the delicacy of the wings! Obviously I took some artistic license.
