Vampire Tears Earrings
by Nancy Mc on 05/15/15
About this design:
I've posted this stone before. It's called Lepidocrocite on most sites, but I have seen it called Vampire Tears. I thought it was rather romantic. My g'daughter asked me for earrings for college graduation, and told me she was wearing blood red lipstick,so I thought of these right away. they looked great on her.
My other design is almost identical, but I was surprised at how different they "feel" with gold. What do you ladies think?
Components:
Large Lepidocrocite faceted stones, dyed red Agate,Moonstone,GP findings, and vermeil ear wires.Read the comments (or add your own)

dolllady aka Pam says:Nancy, you have one lucky granddaughter! I’ll bet she was a stunner with these. I’m not much of a gold person, but I like the look off the gold better than the silver. Maybe it is the difference in the design of the finding, but the gold finding looks more comfortable.

DayLily aka Del says:I love this stone and you made a wonderful design to really showcase it’s magical properties. The gold is perfect.

N Taylor says:Great color. Goes with everything.

Maggies Mom says:A Fave! Both look great, love that gemstone, never heard of it, nor seen it before. I like the gold ones better, but both look terrific.

Crystal Canary says:Wow–I love the red inclusions in this stone! I’ve never seen it before either. You have highlighted the red perfectly with the agate and moonstone–kinda mysterious with all the depth in this piece. Love them both, but I also like the contrast of the gold better, and I’m usually drawn to silver. Lovely work!!

Crystal Canary says:Nancy, thanks for the PM. I appreciate the vote of confidence–see reply!

Nancy Mc says:Thanks to all you nice ladies. I also prefer the gold. It’s funny that I don’t care to wear gold right now,but I like to work with it.
Lepidocrocite is a great stone, isn’t it? It’s technically Lepidocrocite IN Quartz, according to what I’ve read. something about iron ore, blah blah. LOL I just love looking at it.

kye says:I’ve never seen this stone either. It really is beautifull! I think I like the warmth of the gold the best. It really sets off the red agate. Love the way you used the moonstone and agate clusters to enhance the beauty of the lepidocrocite.

sweetjane says:These are just some great earrings! I love the stone and I also vote for gold.

Nancy Mc says:Thanks again, chicks. I’m always happy to show a stone that other ladies aren’t familiar with. It was love at first sight, with me. Hope someone else gets some, and creates something fab!

Elis Mom says:These are awesome! I also vote for the gold, as it adds warmth to the design. But, the other pair is beautiful as well!

Mahala RockChick says:I LOVE these! I have some large lepidocrocite brios that I have been meaning to make into a cluster pendant with some rock crystal cubes and pearls but have been wanting some pink tourmaline to put with it and haven’t found any (that I am willing to pay the outrageous price for) I may have to settle for some tourmaline colored glass!

Mahala RockChick says:And I really like the gold!
