Turquoise Dreams

About this design:

This necklace was inspired by the desire to think of warm things.
It is getting pretty chilly up here in Canada, even now.
I love turquoise with its warm tones, & when mixed with copper shades they compliment each other nicely.
To act as a contrast I used smokey quartz.

20mm turquoise rondelles,Freshwater Pearls, copper beads, copper findings, smokey quartz

It is so lovely — it’s too bad you can’t wear it yourself. Just think, somewhere out there is a tall woman just waiting to buy and wear this gorgeous necklace….. :D

    :) She’ll need wide shoulders too ~
If you can believe it I only measure 13″ across shoulders ~ makes shopping for things that are fited right, very challenging!!

I absolutely love this! I love the copper spacer, combined with a pearl or smoky quartz between the turquoise. I usually use just one element. You’ve just given me a new design idea!

Mavis – I’m not as tiny as you, but consider myself to be small boned and never thought I could wear larger chunky necklaces either. But, I’ve found that a short chunky necklace draws the eyes upward, creating an illusion of more height.
So – I’m thinking you could take this same, gorgeous design, maybe with just 3 rondelles, shorten it to 15 or 16 inches and you just might have something you could wear. :)

I used to think turquoise HAD to go with silver! Boy was I narrow minded! It goes great with copper too! This is a winner! Lovely!

Gorgeous! Turquoise is is in my top three for favorite gems and this a fantastic design!

Mavis, I’m small in stature too so I understand your dilemma. (Both in clothes and jewelry) Jeannes advice is a good one! I’ve begun wearing chunkier chokers recently and they can work for us shortys. :-D

What a marvelous design! The color combo is wonderful! :D I really love this, Mavis, and I totally agree with Gem Chick that you could work with it to make something a bit smaller for yourself! I hope you try it and then post it for all of us to see (or better yet, a pic of you wearing it!). :D

Really beautiful necklace! I’m very short (and very round), but I’ve been trying many designs, lengths, and sizes of beads to figure out things that I can wear. I’ve made a lot of things for everyone else, but didn’t think that I could wear necklaces; and I really wanted to! Don’t give up on yourself, you’ll find things that work for you!!

Thank you for all your kind comments!!
Appreciated too are the suggestions for how I could adjust it for a lady of delicate build.:)

I think I will try to make one for customers & maybe for myself if I have enough of the large roundelles. They are so unusual, i’ve been holding on to them!
I have friends who are of Canada’s first Nations people, & they do wear turquoise with silver ~ but I do like the warmth of copper & the Southwest did inspire me!
