Finally something for me

About this design:

I finally made something for myself! I bought several pieces of labradorite back in March. And I haven't touched them. I take them out, look at them and then put them back. Lately I've spent a TON of time on Pinterest looking at designs and visually learning and designing in my head because that's just how my brain works. I often think in pictures and work through things a few thousand times before I actually DO them. So I took put this cab and decided to work work it. It is so far the best specimen I have found and it flashes even inside but was exceedingly difficult to photograph!

When I work on a design and I'm not 100% comfortable with it I work it up in copper since sterling silver isn't cheap! But I love the way the copper love against this stone.

I am most pleased with this design than some of my others. Would do the neck of the bail differently but...

Wow, what a great piece of Labradorite! You did a wonderful job with the photography. The turquoise flash is brilliant and then all of the creases that can be seen underneath, outstanding! Of course the firework is beautiful too. I have to imagine all the steps too, before anything can get done. Even then, I still keep tweaking until it is just right. You have really outdone yourself here. Great job!

Absolutely beautiful! Your wraps keep the stone secure and don’t hide too much of it. I also like the copper. It’s unexpected & the patina is just right. I’m glad you are keeping it!

Now, one suggestion. Turn off your autocorrect! You’ve got some crazy sentences in your description!! “I am most pleased…”. :)
    Just messin’ with ya!

Lol Moogie! Thank you! I hate autocorrect! I usually double check things but… I fixed it thanks for the heads up!

Thank you for the comments! This really is my favorite, I plan to make a few more with a similar design! But of course each one has to be a little different because that’s how I roll!

Kristin, I think the neck of the bail is Perfect. And your designs are perfect. How do you find such gorgeous Lab pieces?! The ones I order online look so colorful, then I’m shipped dull gray or brown Labs and have to return them. :( Please make more like this and sell them for a handsome price! ;) $

Wow Khristin this stone is so beautiful! I can see why you’re keeping it. It would be hard to do the stone justice but you were up to the task. I love the way you take a stone and enhance it’s beauty with wire.

Kathryn no worries on the name! Hardly anyone spells it right ;) I bought these cabs at a rock and stone shop. It’s nice because you get to handle the stones and see them firsthand before you buy them. I’ve also had decent luck on Etsy getting nice cabs. I totally need to get several done and list them in my etsy shop! Now to just sit down and do it…

Thank you! I have a new commission and when I get it done I’ll be sure to post it.

Thank you so much everyone! I love interacting with you all over jewelry! I will say one thing, I really like to keep my wrapping simple, 1 I’m not quite there yet with my skill for the super complex wrapping, but I also love to keep things simple because sometimes I feel that too much wire overpowers the stone and I love to let the stone speak for itself.

Totally agree! Plus I love silver, but the copper just feels so much more like a warm hug!
