Pearls with Crystals

About this design:

I was just looking through my photos I have been taking for the last 9 years and found I've made quite a bunch of pearl cuffs. It seems that the cuffs I make in the various designs are my most popular item.

This pearl cuff was a special order that for some reason I had problems finishing. But when I was finally done with it the lady liked it and that's what counts.

I'm experimenting with some new shapes for the cuff frames. So far the experimental phase is all there is. I'll just watch them for a while and wait for inspiration. Among the bazillion items Lima Beads has, do they have inspirations for sale? Just asking.....

14ga and 24ga red brass wire, pearls and a few crystals

You do manage to come up with some inspriational jewelry designs. When you do they are terrific! One of these days I need to finish a design I adapted to one of your previous necklace designs and post them.

You probably made your own cuff frame. Does it require soldering?

I’m such a big fan of your cuffs. Those pearls look like bubbles of beauty! I like the different soft colors you incorporated into the design. :)

On page 9 of the Step by Step Projects is a tutorial I posted back about the time the earth cooled (04/03/12). It gives the basics of a more simple cuff design.

I’ve made a few changes since I posted it. Instead of 12ga wire I now use 14ga and have replaced the masking tape I used to secure wires with twist ties.

If any of you are interested in making the more simple version of the cuff please do so. Once you learn the basics then you can play around with all kinds of variations.

Geeze! I’ve been making these cuffs for a long time.

what a beautiful cuff! when you are shaping your wire, do you freehand shape it or do you use something to shape it on? all your pieces are beautiful and this is one I like the most. will check out that instruction page. again, its a beauty!

Robin, I freehand shape all but the curves on the ends of the cuff and use a bracelet mandrel for the final shaping. I make three measurements to help with spacing. I mark the center of the wire then measure 3 in. on either sides. The two side measurements are to help locate the starting place for making the rounded ends. I use a nail polish bottle to help make the rounded shapes on the ends. From there it is all free hand until I am ready to shape it to fit the wrist.
