seafoam swirls

About this design:

I was watching tv and as my mind usually does I had this idea just pop up,literally out of the blue,I wasn't all too sure it would work out but I think it did very nicely. I am going to redo the one earring as I am not satisfied with the loop at the top. It was just to dim in the livingroom to continue.

Components:

18 ga wire, various sizes of toho beads, czech glass lentil beads, diamond shape earwire, and oval jump rings.

These are great- I’ve never thought about making my own rounds- seed beads are so intricate and beautiful. How do you keep the round from unwinding? I love the color and you did an awesome job. I don’t see where you need to redo anything- they look perfect to me!

I cut a long piece of the wire, put a small loop at the bottom and strung the beads. to begin the spiral I had to use my round nose pilers stuck into the loop for about 1 turn, once you have that done, use your hands to guide the wire around and just keep going till you are satisfied. You shouldn’t have any unwinding. I wrapped the loose end of the wire around my finger to keep the beads from sliding off. Does this make any sense to you? I am horrible at directions.

on a second thought, after stringing the beads make the wrapped loop, keeping the beads not overly tight on the wire, from there do the spiral. I think that would be much easier and im actually going to try that in the morning with some copper, see how that goes.

Super idea–I think this is a great design! The swirl with seed beads is so interesting, and I really like how you didn’t just leave it there, but added the extra beads along the bottom. This idea should be posted in a magazine or book. I bet all the little seeds refractive the sunlight & create a wonderful glistening effect. Great work!

Whirlpools in the ocean? That is what they remind me of. Great design. Love it!

I don’t remember the size of the beads but I would imagine any size would work as long as they are round. I tried with some tube ones and it didn’t work. I used 2 different sizes on these earrings.
