Just Playing Around

About this design:

I was looking for some chain for another project and came across the chain tassel. It's made of 4 or 5 different types of chain pieces left over from other designs.

The stone was lurking in a drawer with a bunch of pendants. The colors caught my eye and I decided it would work with the tassel.

The chain they are hanging from is a vintage one with square links called a Boston chain. It was hanging out with a bunch of other chains. Apparently this necklace is the result of an unplanned scavenger hunt. I may take it apart and do a better job of finishing it.

Components:

antique brass chain, various left over pieces of chain, jasper pendant

LRC – I agree with Pam. Beautiful pendant. Chain tassel is nice also. Never seen a chain like the one you used. Now go back to playing around. And have fun.

Aahhh that’s a very pretty necklace. The tassel gives nice balance. Is that what they call a gossamer chain? great job. Its great to be able to go back and find something you totally forgot you had and make something awesome with it.

Thanks for all of the comments and compliments everyone. I like this collection of found things well enough to take it apart and reassemble it more neatly. Just might wear it my self.

Robin .. I think the chain is heavier than a gossamer one. They measure 2mm X 3mm and are made of solid little rectangles rather than wire.

Scavenger hunt jewelry is such a fun way to describe your necklace. The square chain is just awesome. I think the idea of the mixed chain tassle is very cool. Chain and Jasper. Beautiful!

Thanks kye. I use a lot of chain and keep all of the left over pieces. Every once in a while I find a use for them. There is not much you can do with 3 or 4 inch sections so a tassel is a good way to use them. Orphan chain pieces to use with orphan beads. Maybe I should start a new line of jewelry and call it Annie’s Orphan Baubles. On that note I think I need to stop and go drink a strong cup of tea…. :D

Unplanned scavenger hunts often lead to some of the best ideas! The multi-colored chain really picks up the different colors in the Jasper. I think this was a great idea. Sometimes a little more simplicity is what we need for outfits that have a lot of ‘print’ to them. Love the name of your ‘upcoming’ new line! :)

Lynda, serendipity has been my friend for a long time. Couldn’t do designing without it. :D
