Turquoise and Copper

About this design:

I made this necklace with 24ga sheet copper and textured the surface with a chasing hammer. I think textured copper looks great and texturing it disguises any scratches or dings that are on the surface.

This necklace has been hanging around for ages waiting for me to decide what kind of bead to hang from the bottom. I have several of the rustic turquoise nuggets so I tried most of them out and chose this one because it looked the best with the textured metal. It was a real pain to photograph the necklace. I had a problem getting the top piece level and I still had to edit it after I transferred it from the scandisc card to the computer.

I love the hammered metal pieces. That turquoise is the perfect shape and the coloring goes so well with the hammered texture.

Thanks for the nice comments, Pam. Copper and turquoise were made to go together and the texturing works great for anger management.

Love this piece LRC – The hammering is amazing – it gives the copper a soft look and reinforces the mottling in the turquoise. Very well balanced.

Thank you ladies. This piece was slow coming together. I had the copper pieces done long before I knew just how I was going to use them. I need to capture a friend and have them try it on so I can see how it really looks.

Copper and turquoise is such a great combination. Texturing the copper adds a wonderful new layer to your symmetrical design. Beautiful work LRC.
