Button Challenge

About this design:

Haven't posted here in awhile. Life, you know...
I was able to continue with some jewelry classes this fall and our teacher usually has a fun class design challenge for us, in addition to our normal work. One time it was bullet casings, another some random open metal rectangles. This time it was buttons. Someone had gifted her bags and bags of buttons. I mean huge bags. We were allowed to take home as many as we wanted. Next week is our last class and showcase for our creations. It had to have at least one button...I used more than one. Okay, more than thirty...
We were also allowed to use other materials in the design. Also made a fun pair of earrings with two mother of pearl buttons.

buttons, carved stone beads, mother of pearl nuggets, waxed linen cord, and toggle clasp.

Funny Fresh Baked – I was just checking out my button collection a few days ago wondering if I could use them in a necklace. Guess you can. Lovely creation.

This is a marvelous idea for those of us that have a button box from family members. Personally I have my mom’s button box, my grandmother’s box which, I am sure contains buttons from my great grandmother’s collection. I have wondered what to do with those shell and shell looking 2 and 4 hole buttons. Your have given some beautiful ideas.

    Thank you, all!
This would be a great way to showcase all those heirloom buttons in grandma’s button box. Bring them out into the light and let them shine!
