Brass Feathers

About this design:

It’s been so long since I’ve had an opportunity to bead & create—I just had to find some time to make something! This was a fun, quick project that had been floating around in my mind for a while. Love the colors in the porcelains and thought they would make a nice base to showcase the brass feathers. Sorry about the cloudy day pictures—hard to see how the color ‘pops’ in the light.

Lesson learned: Find time to create and bead! It does wonders for all the things life throws your way. Happy Beading! :)

What a beautiful set based on porcelain and feathers! I know what you mean how beading helps you get through everything life throws at you. I need to complete my organizing so I can concentrate on beading.

Beautiful necklace ans bracelet Crystal. The leaves are so fun. How long are the leaves on your necklace? Such a joyful set. I can see why it makes you happy – it makes me happy too.

Thanks Pam & Beady! It was so nice to create again!
Pam, I’m always in the middle of an organizing project. Today, I’m cleaning out some closets. I do enjoy the process though.
Beady, the feathers are about 1.5″ long, and the necklace is almost 19″. I wore it with one of my neutral turtleneck sweaters, and was happy at how it hung. It’s a fun set to wear.

What a nice bracelet. You’ve got to bead more – you’ve got to! I especially like the red porcelain beads, although all are nice. I’d like to see this on the wrist so I can see how the feathers hang. Do more. We have to bead and create to keep happy and sane in a crazy world.

It’s so great to see you posting again CC! Your set is beautiful! I’ve been working with leather and porcelain designs too lately. I really love what you’ve created. I never would have thought to use the leaves like you did. A wonderful idea and outcome. ♡

Oops! I meant feathers! The multiple feather dangles on the bracelet really tie the two together. Wonderful work!

KRalston, Thank you! Yes, beading keeps us all sane! When I make bracelets, I always try to add weight to the clasp area (unless the clasp is the focal of the design) so that the bracelet will highlight the beads and not swing around and have the clasp on top. On this one, I used the feather drops along with weightier brass beads to accomplish that goal. It can take time to figure out, but for me, its worth the effort–I really dislike having to twist the bracelet back into place the whole time I’m wearing it. Thanks again!

Silly new computer! Melody & Kye, I appreciate your comments also! Just got a new computer after MS no longer supportig Win7, and went for a big change over to an Apple. Love it for sure, but there is a slight learning curve especially for the tech challenged.
Kye, can’t wait to see your design! It had been so long since I’ve sat at my beading desk, that I just had to make something, even if it was just a quick, uncomplicated project. Just sitting there again has inspired me, so if things remain calm for a bit, I hope to work on some of my unfinished projects and ideas. On the bracelet, I would like to add some Gilders Paste Wax to give the feathers a patinated look–but need to get some first.
    Take Care everyone!

Wonderful design, CC! Sooo yummy and wearable! I’ve also fallen in love with porcelain beads, just ordered a huge bunch from Lima, which is stuck in customs right now… :-(

And I say “same, same” to everything you tell — I just have to get my creations photographed, so I can post them (somewhere, sometime…). Been doing a bit of random beading and creating now and then, but not found much time to sell, or put it on social media or anything. Trying to change that.

Monica!!! Been missing you soooo much! I can’t wait to see some more of your work–Be sure to post them here on Lima! Our love for beading never really goes away, but sometimes it gets lost in the craziness of everything else. So glad to hear that you still find some time to create. I just love your organic style and innovations in making very cool beading elements which get incorporated into your designs. How is it going with making your own ceramic bead? They were fantastic! Very glad to hear from you and to know you’re still beading! :) :)
