About this design:

Celebrían was the mother of Arwen from Lord of the Rings. This piece is so named because the recipient of the Arwen necklace that I made in December wanted a necklace for her mother and wanted it to "be like" Arwen (the necklace). This is what I came up with. I kept the clasp very simple and the free arm fits through the loops on the chain.

Labradorite, Aquamarine from LB, Sapphire from LB, sterling silver.

A beautiful necklace Khristin. Your skills in wiring are masterful! You use sterling silver? What gives it the antique color or does it come that way? I’m sure your frien will love it!

Absolutely gorgeous! You did a great job handling all the primary wires by creating the curls & swirls. The Labradorite focal stone is an exquisite piece and looks wonderful with the beaded chain. Super work Khristin!

Wow! Thank you! You guys really brighten my day with your comments, and I greatly appreciate your words. You all have been such great teachers and a source of inspiration.

Sweet Jane I do have tiny hands and fingers but I can’t take credit for it because I have some tiny tools so they get the credit, and my magnifying glass! It’s the real super star hehehe! I may take a pic and post them only because I don’t remember their names but there’s one I use that let’s me get in to the super tiny places.

One thing that I experimented on this time was adding wires around the bail to add to the front. If you look at the front of the bail there are 3 larger wires. I added these and aren’t part of the structure, and I was worried that I didn’t disguise it well enough, but I think it worked!

Robin, that’s a great question! So the silver I work with is brand new and super shiny, so when it’s done I put it in liver of sulphur. This turns it black, then I polish it. To get rid of the black I put,it in my tumbler with water, dish soap and steel shot. Then I take it out and finish polishing by hand with a cloth. Sometimes I have to use my steel brush or my dremmel.

Khristin, thanks for the explanation of the added wires. I was following them around in my mind from the different angles in your photos, but each time I did, I got lost and couldn’t figure out where they all terminated. The key….added wires! Thanks :)

Beautiful. Those swirls on the front look like rolling waves or long hair flowing in water. Clever name, too.
