Holstein and gunmetal

About this design:

I was totally inspired by the strap- I love the 🐄 suede. I did have to really think about what components to use. I seldom use gunmetal, so I tried that and liked it. I was making this for a fall show , but my dtr already asked if she could have it. Dang it, I have to keep her out of my bead room🥴 Wish I could find a cool cow bead. I guess I’ll make a couple more of these- as I’ve had request for them. I sure hope they don’t cancel the shows!

Black and white suede leather strap. Picasso agate beads. A few white matte Swarovski pearls, antler bead, dyed magnesite discs, soldered crystal connector, a couple Czech flower bead caps, a crystal bead out of my mason jar and mainly gunmetal findings. I added an additional piece with Australian green opal, green garnet and wood beads. The strap is a sage green

It’s not my personal style, but, from a design standpoint every detail on this is excellent. Good choice of beads and good call on the gunmetal. And the antler focal, putting it on silver with antiqued spacers helped blend it into the necklace perfectly.

This is incredible! The chain is so pretty! This design is so well done, so well executed, it’s phenomenal. Excellent work. How do you get into shows and how do you find shows? I’ve not done one…

Awesome! I love everything about it– the design choices were well made. No surprise you quickly lost this to your daughter and got requests for more. Hope the shows go on, too.

Very nice work! I can see why you were inspired by the leather strap. Great choice of beads for the neutral palette–and I love the added random crystals in the design. Gunmetal can be hard to design with, but it worked out fantastic in this piece. By the way, the antler focal bead looks outstsanding framed with the silver rondelles. Great piece Robin! :)

Stingray, it’s not really my taste either, but I have one with turquoise that I love and wear. It’s what I hope will sell. My daughter often wears jeans, t- shirt and a lace duster and chunky jewelry, leather earrings ( it’s a Texas thing I think- I see it a lot).
Khristin, I find shows online, but also it’s the ones I like to go to. I like the church shows and school shows- they are more easy going and easier to do- surprisingly do well at them. The convention center is a big show/ last year they had over 5000 people go through- fun, but hectic. And I’ve done fair on the square/ it’s so hot in Houston even in November/ so I quit doing that. Just google craft shows in my area. Some vendors do them every weekend- even at farmers markets. I love just doing 3 or 4. You would do great at shows! I always have some jewelry for little girls because they come with mom and their little purses- too cute!

Jane- you can see it best in the last picture- it’s off white with silver spacers on either side

I don’t know why the strap looks blue-its sage green on the last pic

Robin, love your added piece using that awesome donut. The wire work is a nice way to create a bail for it. I really like the colors & differing shapes you used in this design, especially the larger shapes by the donut itself. Is there any way you could take a close-up shot of the wired bail you made so I could see it better. I can’t enlarge on a desktop very well. I have a ton of donuts, and would like to find different ways to connect them, and your idea is very innovative & attractive. Love it! :)

CC, its a weave. I saw it on you tube. The first couple steps are challenging, but it takes shape and becomes easy to do.

Robin, thanks so much for posting a close-up of the bail! It is soooo pretty with the beads weaved into it. It does look challenging. I will definitely see what I can find on YouTube. :)

I can see why your daughter asked for this beauty. There are so many things to admire and study. I especially like the way you wire wrapped the donut. I don’t think I’ve ever seen beads added like that. It looks so difficult but you’ve done it expertly. Beautiful necklace, beautiful design, and beautiful work.

Just cruising around and found this. Wow! The two necklaces are great! I love how you put so many types of textures together so well! I am working on a bracelet today but maybe later I will start on another necklace! Thanks for sharing it, sorry I didn’t notice it earlier.
