Linked with Love

About this design:

I'm obsessed with linking right now...give me a couple hours and no interruptions and I'm as happy as a clam...however happy a clam is. I love greens, oranges and coppers as you can probably tell.

Green opal ovals and rondelles, copper spacers from LB, copper wire and hook & eye for bracelet.

Lovely! I’m fond of linking, too! I’ve decided it’s the process, the making of bound loops that makes me so happy. There’s just something absorbing and calming about the handwork.

I have a seed bead class tonight, though. Off to finish the twisted Ndebele…..

(OK, call me dense, I’m not familiar with the terminology, ‘linking’. Is that making wrapped loops?) :|

This is very pretty!!! Great choice of stones and copper together. :D I think your links look very uniform and the whole design is very appealing. :D

Sweet Chick, I think linking is when you do wrapped loops that connect to each other. I have seen it done with just simple loops, no wrap, but it usually does not hold well if the piece has heavy stones or gets much stress from wear. Anyone else want to add? ;)

I call it linking…it could very well be wire wrapping as well. I always think of wrapping a CAB with wire when I hear “wire wrapping”.

    Thanks for the lovely comments!!

Me, too Nicki. I know it all goes together, but sometimes we find multiple terms for the same things. I think I was surprised to see how many of the same techniques are in wire working magazines and in beading magazines, listed under “basics.”
