About this design:

A while a I made a necklace using Ancient Roman Glass and a rough cut Labradorite cabochon. The design on the stone was a tree of life. A friend of mine purchased it and asked it if could make a bracelet that could double as a chain extender. So this is what I made.

She also asked if she could have earrings too... The earrings needed to be something that kids couldn't accidentally get their fingers caught in and she wanted it to be about an inch and a half long...

Components:

Sterling silver wire, Ancient Roman Glass, Labradorite

Ditto Zippy’s comment!! I love extenders that can be worn as bracelets. I especially like the unique clasp you made that also doubles as a focal when worn around the wrist. Your work is inspiring to all of us!

Khristin-what awesome work you do! I love your wiring-did you color your wire or is it gunmetal? I love how you showcase the clasp

Thank you! Your comments have made my day! I’ve had these projects on the back burner for quite a while because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to tackle them… I also design about a thousand times before I actually DO my work.

Robin, great question! The wire is sterling silver that I put in liver of sulfur to oxidize it and then I put it in my tumbler for about 24 hours to clean and polish it.

The tumbler is great because it work hardens your metal (if you leave it long enough), it cleans it, and then it also gets the tiny rough bits off. Great investment if you work in metal.

I love this clasp. Do you tumble the beaded chain, too, or just the clasp?
