Copper Owl Set

About this design:

Quite a few years back, we had a pair of Great Horned Owls nest in a large tree in the back of our property. They had a baby owl—he was so cute & fuzzy. We watched them with binoculars & enjoyed the experience tremendously. Owls often would keep us up at night with their ‘hooting’. I fondly remember silently laying there awake listening to their calls. I created a fresh pick named Copper Owl after recently hearing owls in our new neighborhood. But you know how it goes—my vision didn’t exactly work out using the beads I originally planned—I guess most designs morph in the process—don’t they? :)

Components:

Patricia Healy copper owl (LB); Green Garnet faceted slabs (LB); Sunstone rondelles; Czech leaves, flowers (LB), green coins (LB); copper spacers; soldered rings; handmade copper hook patinated & waxed. **Bracelet also includes: Nunn owl charm (LB); Carnelian (LB), Czech leaves (LB), glass crystals, rolo chain, ball head pins, misc spacer beads

Oooooohhhhhhhh! Love all the different beads and textures. I have a hard time putting different beads together to make them look cohesive. This is wonderful:)

Very nice! I agree with bluedog- as I have a hard time mixing and matching so many different types of beads in my designs. These are both beautiful. And the brown Czech leaves at the end of the necklace kind of gives the feel of tree bark to me.

This is a beautiful set! I know what you mean about the design changing as you work. I have had that happen to me on several occasions. In the end I’m happy with the outcome.

So beautiful Crystal. (I’ve been eyeing that Patricia Healy owl for a while also.)
You did a wonderful job in your design- all the different beads work so well together. Love the leaves and the orange berries in the bracelet. Great work!

I don’t think my designs ever turn out the way I had planned them to. T his, however couldn’t have turned out better CC…I love green with copper…especially your green coins!! With the Czech flowers and leaves…it definitely has that woodsy forest like feeling. Your bracelets always flow easily from your necklaces. Great design…as always!!!

Inspiration can hit us any place along the way! Your final pieces are a gorgeous mix of design elements, color, shapes, and textures. They’ve got it all! I hope every time you wear these, they bring back fuzzy memories of the baby owl.

Thank you all very much for the encouraging words. I love Patricia Healey’s pieces as they are so fun & whimsical. I tend to hold on to them, waiting for just the right inspiration. Phoenix, you saw my vision–He’s suppose to be sitting within the leaves of the tree!

Oh wow CC! What a wonderful set! Such a great mix of beautiful colors textures and memories. I especially like the way you used ball headpins on the bracelet. I love the way you are inspired by nature and tell us the story. My pieces always change from my original idea. Sometimes they have a mind of their own I think.

Ahhhh. I love the owl. All these stones are beautiful. And then there’s the other owl dangle on the bracelet as well. It all comes together so perfectly. I agree that designs seem to do what they want to do sometimes and we are just along for the ride – and to do all the work, of course.

I appreciate all of you taking the time to comment on my post. I so enjoy being able to interact with other who love to bead & create. This was a fun set to make–but it went through many versions first. When I came across the Green Garnet slabs, it started to take a direction that I could see in my mind. Thanks again–Have a great weekend everyone!
