Snakes In The Grass
by K Ralston on 03/02/21
About this design:
Wire wrapped bracelet. I learned that I don't like rules so I broke some more of them. There is no grass or green obviously, but I called it this because the snake heads are down in there amongst the wires and beads. These snakes are half of some snake clasps I have. I didn't use the other halves, which are the tails that go into their mouths. It's hard to attach them to the bracelet because they aren't drilled through lengthwise. I guess they are meant to have a beaded rope glued into them. But I don't care to do things right, as you know, so I balled up the end of the wire and shoved it inside. Then I made a base layer for it all to be strapped to. Seems pretty strong. I've always wanted to do a snake themed bracelet. I tried to make some snake head clasps once. I got things that looked like crawdads!
Components:
Snake clasps. 10 and 8mm rondells. 18 and 26 guage silver toned wire. 2mm rondells. Metal disk patterned beads.Read the comments (or add your own)

Beady Little Eyes says:So cool KR. I love the little hidey snakes with the rondells over their noses. It’s great when you break the rules.

Crystal Canary says:Very nice! I’m lovin’ the scales of the snake skin that are nestled within the wirework. I like your creativity–and stepping outside all those ‘rules’ can not only be fun when making new pieces, but also have great results. This piece has a nice balance and looks great on your wrist!

sweetjane says:I’m all for breaking the rules. This bracelet looks great! You definitely have some wire working talent, so continue to do it your way…the results speak for themselves.

Stingray says:Well, in Texas the grass is often brown and occasionally has snakes in it, so, it looks accurate to me

. Cool bracelet.

K Ralston says:Thanks for the encouraging comments. I’m glad you like it. Now, what am not going to do with their missing tails? LOL. Here’s the tails plus a full clasp. I finally cut my own grass this evening. No snakes found but I am not as young as I seem to think and I’m exhausted, so Jazz and I have to nap for a while.

Little Round Chick says:You certainly had an adventure making this bracelet. Love the unique wire work and it is alright to break the rules. To quote Vladimir Lenin, “Rules are like pie crust, made to be broken.”
