Remembering to Look for Joy in the Journey

About this design:

Lots going on in my life right now and when I spoke with our Pastor last week she said she thinks she has been battling some depression, me, too. So, I went looking for something to remind me to find the joy in the day. Not always easy. Today, really hard. But, it is there! This baby took lots of putting together and cutting apart before this version came to be. Please, honest feedback!

Components:

Lots of Czech glass beads, all LB. Focal piece from another place. Irish Waxed linen, LB. Chain, from here and there.

OK, I’ll be the first one to chime in. This is is fabulous. Choose Joy. Well said, and just happens to be related to something I’ve been thinking lately. I think we’ve all been battling some depression. But that is just robbing us of our days. These are really bright and colorful beads, wholly suited to joy.

There is totally joy in this piece of jewelry!! I love it!! It’s just perfect Jogi. I too have been having more downs than usual…I’m trying not to look at the news. I know I have plenty to be grateful for…also plenty to feel sad about…I have some outstanding handicaps. But..I simply don’t go there. I have joy in my heart that no one can take away. I really appreciate you posting your bracelet!

What a perfect bracelet to remind us that there are still things to find joy even in this pandemic. The colors and beads in this bracelet are enough to brighten a gray day! Depression is a major side effect of this pandemic.

This beautiful bracelet looks like a GYPSY whos ready for LIFE! Yes, I agree about the depression stuff. I try not to watch too much news either- just enough to know what’s going on and then it’s on to activities that bring on the JOY!! ie. enjoying Nature & being Creative!

Jogi, here’s honest feedback: your bracelet is uplifting and inspirational. The design is beautifully balanced in colors and shapes. Your artistic design, using that ?ceramic? focal absolutely brings joy to anyone who sees and wears it!

Thank you everyone! I appreciate your comments and thoughts about the need to find the Joy along the way even when times, well, suck. I took up Stand Up Paddle boarding a few years ago and I learned an important concept to stay afloat, look out, look ahead, don’t look down. I wish I had learned that when I was trying to skate or skate board back in the day. The message is in the midst of whatever you are in the midst of, look up, look out at what is around you, don’t get involved too much in what you are in, it is temporary. See the destination, the joy and beauty around you and keep paddling! Now this does not work very well when a happy puppy is on the board with you. You will end up in the drink then but you will be laughing! Thank you for your messages to me, they bring joy, too!

Life is filled with choices. We can either focus on the bad things in life, or as your focal says, we can ‘choose’ Joy rather than sadness. It can be hard, especially if we’re hurting or suffering in some way, but it can be done. Focusing on the good things in life & all we have to be grateful for is by far the best course. I love your bracelet, its message, and the thoughtfulness spent in choosing just the right bead to complement it. I’ve been enjoying your posts–keep them coming–you have much to offer this loving community of beaders. Thanks for the reminder to make good choices everyday. :)

Your bracelet is singularly appropriate right now. We all need some Joy. It has been a bit hard to find but the colors and your design remind us it is still out there. We just need to look for it and be ready to enjoy it when it comes along.

I choose Joy when I remember. My brain seems to be on the fritz at times, but when I’m truly sane, I choose Joy and Love and forgiveness to those I didn’t like.
