Fruit Salad or Carmen Miranda

About this design:

I started with the focal and it reminded me of a fruit salad. Hubby came in and immediately said Carmen Miranda. So I had to watch "The Lady in the Tutti Fruitty hat". So funny. I tried to show the faceting of the beads in my photos.

What a great name for this one. The colors do indeed look luscious. The center cluster is beautiful. Makes me think of ripe berries. Perfect for summer. AND, it’s kinda flashy. I always like flashy. Carmen Miranda, LOL. That takes me back.

Beady, I appreciate the versatility in your designs. Until learning about this form of beading thru your posts, I always thought this type of stitching was done with mainly seed beads. But, you’ve show that regular beads work just as well and create such a different effect. The facets on the beads are beautiful and refract the light adding extra shimmer. The colors in this piece are a lot of fun too! :)

I can definitely see citrus clusters in this. Nice summer-y brightness.

I looked up Carmen Miranda and watched the “Woman in the Tutti Fruity Hat.” Your husband’s title is so funny. I learn so much on this site. Plus I get to admire the diverse talents of the artists here. Your work is amazing. I’m so inspired by your design talent.

I like this a lot! Yellow seems to be underused in bead jewelry, and it is so cheery.

It’s definitely fruit salad…and very summery. Your designs , as always, amaze me. I know I can come up with a design if I’ve got a focal to go with..but you just have beads, and you come up with some great designs.

I love the bright colors in your beautiful creation. Fruit for the table or for the head, either have the call from this beauty! I love the pop from the cats eye beads, very creative!

Sorry, but autocorrect jumped in. Your necklace reminds me of a tall glass of mixed citrus juice with some fresh berries for decor.

    Thank you all very much.
kye – Carmen Miranda died when she was only 45. Sad. She made herself very rich with her act.
Kimberly – maybe you should dress up this year. Ha.
Actually – I wondered if anyone here would remember her.
Crystal Canary – thank you. Great so see you back here.

I remember Carmen Miranda and her Tropical Fruit Salad head piece. Your choice of colors is perfect and the design is just great. Did she play the castanets?

Thanks LRC – She didn’t in the video I saw – but there were tons of bananas!

At the end of “Reds 2″, John Malkovich is dressed up like Carmen Miranda. A silly movie made all the sillier by Mr. Malkovich.
I wish I knew what you know about beading! You have my deepest admiration for all your capabilities.
