About this design:

Was thinking of my summer garden when I made this but used too many of the autumn metallics I think ...makes it more like a late summer or early fall necklace ....i ran out of the olive seed beads or i would have gone for 4 strands ? What do you think ...stop at 3 or order more seed beads?

I guess it is more fall than spring, but I love fall and it’s beautiful. My advice is take any excuse to buy more beads. But it doesn’t need another strand. It’s got plenty of sparkle to it. Sparkling fall.

Beautiful Kimberly. I love the mix of beads and especially the leaves on the ends. I love it with 3 strands. Kr is right – any excuse to buy more beads is acceptable.

I think this is a anytime necklace. I love lariats and have never made one. You did a great job with this Kimberly….it’s just perfect the way it is. I say 3 strands…I always do things in odd numbers.

This is a beautiful lariat. I agree it’s an anytime of year necklace. You used such a great mix of colors, textures and shapes. The leaves at the ends are so cool. One of these days I really want to make a lariat. Although shopping for beads is a joy I’d leave it at 3.

I love your design. When I finally get rid of all these beads, I’d love making one of these. I would naturally use lavender and white… or something like that. Beautiful Kimberly. May I ask how long it took to make and about how much time you worked on it per day. I’ve never attempted anything like that. I have a lot of 2mm and 3mm beads. So I’ll be able to be creative using many different shades of lavender, etc.

Kimberly – I think your necklace would look awesome as a choker with the strands falling down one side. Such a pretty necklace.

Jane there is definitely something about odd numbers in designs that I like too

Kye, I hear ya , It was really fun to make I hope you do try it someday

Very nice! Although you feel the colors are autumn-ish, I see it differently. As I look out my window, I see a dormant tree budding with new leaves–and that is how I see your piece–the leaves on the bottom are the new growth due to the warming weather. Lariats are a favorite of mine, and I adore the colors you’ve used. Sometimes more strands can be too much (and too heavy!) With three, it will be easier to wear and enjoy. I have a question: when using the fireline, did you make several passes thru the long strands? If so, how many passes & what lb. ‘size’ was the fireline? Thanks so much. :)

Thank you so much CC !! I messed up when I wrote fireline it was actually the wildfire green I used in this 0.15 MM . I hate splitting my threads and I find it doesn’t happen with the wildfire . Yes I made it like I was making a very long fringe where I used a 15 seed bead as the end stopper and I passed through the whole channel 2 times and back half way to tie it off and hide the knot inside a bigger bead in the strands . I am never sure if that is overkill or not enough ?

Fresh baked , it’s my favorite time of year too and I guess I went a little overboard with the autumn colors LOL

Kimberly, I love your lariat. And I agree with everybody. It is perfect at 3 strands. Groups of 3 with anything seems to be more aesthetic.

Help! I have everything collected to make for my neighbor girl who recently started college. How long did you make each strand? She’s very thin and not over 5’1″ .
