Sunset Cowgirl
by Crystal Canary on 07/02/21
About this design:
We live in a small rural town in the Southwest where there are a lot of horse ranches, cattle grazing, and even a yearly rodeo. Although I am not a cowgirl, I’ve always wanted to make a feminine western-style necklace. A while back, I pulled some chunky turquoise beads for a necklace waiting to be made, but when I saw these opaque pink agates from Lima, I knew they would work for a petite, scaled down version of what I had in mind. I hope to make a leather wrap bracelet to go along with the necklace when I get a little more time—until then, I linked one to hold me over. So ‘Howdy!’ from the land of beautiful sunsets!
Components:
Pink opaque Agate (LB), white Howlite heishi (LB), Magnesite, Cherry Quartz, pink dyed quartz, pink Czech druks, ASP findingsRead the comments (or add your own)

kye says:Great designs and beautiful colors too. Plus two strands. Yay! I really like the bead pattern and especially the use of the heishi beads. The bracelet is cool too. It has a nice mix of beads. The future leather wrap bracelet has me intrigued. Can’t wait to see it.

K Ralston says:Howdy to you Crystal. I’ve never seen a southwestern piece that was so feminine. The pinks are so pretty and I especially like the inclusion of the daisy spacers. They make the piece just a bit sparkly.

Robin nursechick says:What a beautiful set, Crystal. This would look awesome dressed up or with a t-shirt. Have you seen the “southern girls t-shirt line?” I love the colors-you paired-perfect!

Beady Little Eyes says:Nice Crystal – Is the second piece a necklace or bracelet? I can’t quite tell. Love your linked beads and the silver spacers. Just wonderful.

sweetjane says:Beautiful colors together Crystal…and a great design! I think you achieved exactly what you wanted to. I’ve never lived in a little rural town…but I think it would be cool. I love horses….but got thrown one too many times and decided that was enough. I always look forward to your posts!

Crystal Canary says:Thank Y’All
I sincerely appreciate all your kind comments. Those little pink heishis where fun to work with, but a bit challenging as they could have the potential to get lost in a design. Lining them up was most impactful, so I went with that idea. Thank you again everyone for taking time to post your thoughts.
Beady, the linked piece is a quick bracelet I made to tide me over until I can find time to make a leather wrapped bracelet for the necklace. I’ve got some ideas–but now just need to find the time & brush up on my skills in making one.
