First Things, Packing, Réunion

About this design:

Big Title. Lots going on. I am packing non essential items. Don't know where I am going or when but I'm moving forward. Among the jewelry I am packing is this bracelet. The very beginning of my beading life. I went to the bead store and the clerk asked if I knew what I wanted to make. I saw this bracelet on display and said I want to make THAT. I still love this bracelet and it wasn't very hard on do. I have made a number of variations since, shown here. The one on the top is different. Just thought I'd throw it in because it was an early attempt at an original design. I have a son. I haven't heard from him in many years but he turned 50 this month and I left a message on the last number I had for him. He called the other day and it was so nice to hear from him. I felt good but now I wonder if I will ever hear from him again. So I am keeping busy. My son is a gifted child, raised with only his mom, so like all of us he has his struggles, but I try to give him space to live his own life, which he is quite capable of doing. And I must also live mine. At least mom now knows he is ok, still employed, etc. Moms worry, don't you know.

Components:

Fire polish beads, rhinestone spacers. Clasp, Fireline. The variations include chips, navettes, rhinestone sliders, amythst rounds, etc.

Love your bracelet and all the variations. The bracelet with the star is very pretty. Lovely clasps also.
Glad you got in touch with your son. Yes – Moms worry.

What glamour! I love them all, especially the first one and the one with the star. As mom’s, it is our job to worry about our children…no matter how old they are.

Beautiful collection of bracelets adapted from the original. I’m so happy you finally heard from your son. Not only do mom’s worry about their kids, but so do many teachers.

Lovely collection of bracelets!! Follow the yellow brick road….do the next right thing….I wish you the best on your journey K Ralston. I don’t have kids period, but if I did I know I would worry about them.

Thanks all. Glad you enjoyed seeing these old bracelets and walking down memory lane with me. I said I used Fireline but that’s wrong. I used Tigertail. They might not sell that brand anymore but it is a flex cable beading wire. The clerk showed me how to use a crimping tool that day. And I found that sometimes the only thing that can shut down all the garbage in your head is focusing on the jewelry work. That was over 30 years ago.

Hahaha – KR – I know what you mean. Jewelry making takes up just enough of your brain.

K, I can see that from the start you’ve loved ‘Bling’ with crystals! When I clean out my jewelry armoire (because I’m always adding to it), I also find myself stopping & reflecting on the pieces I made from the start. It’s good to see where we’ve been & think about where we’re headed. You made some lovely bracelets from that one pattern and started on the path of joyful jewelry making. It’s nice that you had a chance to talk with your son. It can be hard being a mother sometimes.

    Beautiful bracelets! Love their bling!
I am glad you had the chance to speak with your son. Sons are special and we moms worry, regardless of their age. Mine will be 50 next year – yikes – and is currently in Tokyo filming at the Olympics, fully vaccinated, no spectators, a smart and cautious man but still I worry.
I do wish I had some of your bling to wear. Enjoy the wearing through your journey … Merilee
    xoxo

Beautiful bracelets K. I’m so glad you got to talk to your son. Beading helps me block out the world. These days it’s especially needed.
