First Day of High School

About this design:

My granddaughter goes to high school in 2 weeks🥲 where did time go? Seriously- the older I get the faster time goes! She “put in an order for a few choker style necklaces. It started with a pearl choker and something with blues and a small pearl in the center.” We ended up with the others to go with outfits. And she’s out again today with her mom getting “a few more things “. Good grief😂 The ankle bracelets will be made together with waxed linen and seed beads. I think she has a little hippie in her. I remember wearing chokers in high school.

Lots of seed beads- 8/0’s, 6/0’s. A few pearls. Elonga stretch thread. Oldies playing on my phone!

Wa-a-y cool, dude! How long is the elastic, please?

Chicky, I made them 14 1/2 inches long. I doubled the elastic (0.7mm).

I would never have thought to use stretch cord for chokers–I love the idea! She will have a blast wearing these. I bet she will want to make more, especially when her friends see them! :)

Oh my! Time does fly by quickly! I remember having some chokers in high and college. The Elonga should hold up well. I made a bracelet for my neighbor girl 2 years ago with Elonga. She is still wearing it.

Put in an order, LOL. Well, if she’s a hippie then I like her already. These are sweet and yes, very hippie ish. It’s nice to listen to oldies sometimes. Enjoy the music and craft on.

I love these. I wore chokers & rings I made to school in jr. high. I’m glad they’re back in style. I bet my grand daughter would like them.

Robin….I seed a lot of seed bead necklaces on pinterest. They are definitely in style. The hippies of today are a lot different then when I was a little hippie chick. Thinking back, I didn’t wear much jewelry, except earrings. Then I had a little noveau style fairy my boyfriend bought me. Your grand daughter will definitely be hip when she goes to school

Such fun necklaces. All of her friends will want one. Does she wear flowers in her hair?

She does like to put a flower in her hair when she gets a French braid. , but mist of the time it’s a cowboy hat

Y’all know the cord or leather cord bracelets that have a center slide on the back? Can anyone tell how to do that?

Robin, I’m not exactly sure what you mean, but look at Ali’s Sunset Bracelet on page 9 of her designs and see if this is the idea your looking for…….

Thx Crystal, that’s exactly what I was looking for.

Robin, I’m glad to help. I think you just need to adjust the barrel bead to the right amount of tension to hold, but yet allow the cords to slide. I just tried this technique for the first time on my design ‘Ali Inspired Glass Rings’. It works well–just need to give the barrel a little squeeze with pliers if it’s too loose.

    Crystal Canary says:

Oh, I forgot to mention, there are about 3 different sizes of TierraCast barrels–be sure to get the right size for the project or it might be too big and not work. :)
