Vintaj Treasure

About this design:

I took a Viking knit class last spring and ever since then have been playing with different ideas of design. I do love using earthy, neutral tones with pops of color, so I thought I'd try knitting with Vintaj bronze wire. I was so pleased with the way the color can go with almost anything and have had family members request similar pieces with this color wire. Next I'll be trying to figure out the best way to embellish the weave with wire charms, etc.

Vintaj bronze wire, copper cones, copper toggle clasp, swarovski crystals, swarovski pearl, non-tarnish copper wire

This is gorgeous! I’ve done Viking knit (I have 2 bracelets posted here), but only in sterling silver wire. I’ve also seen it done in copper wire, which is lovely. The Vintaj brass is so beautiful! :D

I’m really attracted to Viking Knit – I will have to learn it. Perhaps your example will be the push I need to do so. Love the bracelet, and the coral swarovski bicones are the perfect touch!

Thank you all very much! I was terrified to even try Viking knit for a long time, but then I met this great bead store owner who taught classes. I was able to do it one on one with her and it wasn’t as bad as I first imagined. You should definitely take a stab at it with a class and you’ll probably be surprised at how uncomplicated it might seem. I’m hoping to be teaching it as a class at my friend’s store in Osseo for the summer courses. With the cost of sterling these days, I decided to use more base metal wires and colors. I definitely want to make these in sterling and fine silver as well yet.
