Peaches for a friend.

About this design:

I made this bracelet for a friend some time ago and she broke the clasp. So, I had to repair it and I decided, today, to put it on 7 ply Waxed Linen (LB) and see if that works any better. I added the dangle (because I could) with the little bird on it. I love the little birds!

Components:

Peach Moonstone barrels and rounded barrels (I've had these forever),4mm or 5mm daisy spacers in antiqued gold, gold toned toggle clasp, brass or gold plated vintage long bead, Butterscotch Irish Waxed Linen 7 ply, LB (wish I had had Victorian Rose in a 7 ply), Czech Glass Bronzed Dusty Rose Bird Coin 11mm (LB), Peach Moonstone (Multi) Round 4-5mm (LB)and some gold toned 5mm wrapped bicone bead.

Such gorgeous stones. And I also love the little bird. It’s horrible when you break your favorite jewelry, but luckily your friend she has a talented friend to repair it and make it even better.

I agree with KR! The color of the bird coin compliments the moonstone. I have never seen moonstone in these shapes and sizes. They are interesting.

This is so pretty Jogi! I like how you not only repaired it, but you took it up a notch with the stronger cording and the super-cute bird charm – what a great friend!

Thank you everyone! I really do hope that the cord is stronger. BevB, these are larger beads/pieces that include more of the entire stone. I took a couple of photos and hope that you can see the cats eye effect in the greyer parts.
I got these probably five or six years ago from my dealer. I have too many beads. I am addicted. I need to get rid of some. Wonder if she has anything…

Love the design you’ve made and peach moonstone is one of my favorites. The little birdie with its little fringe are a perfect to tuck in by the gold toggle.

Jogi…this is a lovely bracelet…I am also your friendly jewelry repair person for all my friends. I love peach moonstone and the little birdie is a great choice for a charm. I have never used 7 ply waxed linen…I have always used 4 ply…it comes in more colors…and either doubled it or quadrupled it accordingly. The key to pieces…especially bracelets lasting with waxed linen, is to not get it wet! It will definitely stretch and get weaker.

Jane, Thanks for the help with the waxed linen. I had the 4 ply in my favorite pick for these beads but I was afraid that it wouldn’t hold up against the moonstone chunks. I tried to double it up but finally dug out the only 7 ply I have, butterscotch or whatever it was.

Everyone, thank you again for your kind words. I think I will do what everyone else seems to do and take apart some older pieces of mine and try to put them on the waxed linen. Maybe I will change them up while I am at it! I am trying to organize way too many beads and I came upon some older pieces that need rejuvenating. Organizing will have to wait till tomorrow.

Jogi, one of the joys of making jewelry is that we can redo or fix as needed. When using waxed linen, my theory is squeeze thru the holes the largest ply that will fit–I can’t stand when it wears & breaks. Sometimes the beads might either be too heavy or a little rough inside. Sometimes if they’re rough, I’ll give them a run through with my slender bead file that slides inside beads. I always say, better safe than sorry. Love those Moonstone barrels! I remember your piece using them with the ceramics which inspired me to try some chunkier style necklaces that I wear all the time. As for the bird bead–you know I love it! :)
