Turquoise Dragon (a Creel U inspiration)

About this design:

I absolutely love Creel's Sea Drake necklace (as well as the Earth Sky Dragon) and wanted to make/recreate a smaller version for myself. I could only hope to find as unique a dragon pendant like hers though! - but the one from Lima is still really cute...

Chrysocolla Pebbles, African Turquoise, Serpentine nuggets, Czech glass daggers, African Jade, Brass toggle, Patina dragon (All from LB)

I love all the different gemstones you use. You really put pieces together quite well. You’ve inspired me to use some of the daggers that are in a lot of your pieces…they are in my cart. It’s really a give and take here in the design gallery. I always appreciate your encouragement means a lot!

Gorgeous GZ !! I love how you used the daggers in this also and I love the mood of the African turquoise….This piece takes me to a library in the basement of an old church , light streaming in through a sliver of a window , dust swirls around as you open the book and just like magic the ancient dragon appears….will you live to tell the tale?

Just gorgeous. The colors go so well with the dragon. I love the combination of beads in your bracelet – the metal bead was unexpected. Beautiful. Your photos are lovely also.

I just want to add that I may have a slight addiction to the daggers…but I’m glad it’s spreading!!

The dragon is awesome and I love the pebble beads. Great colors. Good heft. Love the story that Kimberly has spun for this piece. It describes it perfectly.

I must say, I love texture in designs–and you use a lot of it with all the pebbles, nuggets, & daggers that are incorporated into your work. (Between the lines I’m saying I love you work!) All the layers create a sumptuous feel to these bracelets. The addition of the matte beads also add another dimension, along with a mysteriousness to the piece. You’ve got a great eye for combination of elements. It’s great to have a nice selection of beads on hand & have choices when creating. Or do you plan each out and buy accordingly? Is your stash growing? Watch out–it can develop a mind of it’s own! :)

Thank you so much KR, LRC, CC and Robin for your wonderful comments! Please remember that the things you are complimenting me on, I am learning from you all! – so thank you all for sharing your designs.
CC – I guess it’s a combination of both planning, using what I have and buying what I think will go with a piece. and yes my stash is finally growing so that I have a good selection. Thank you again for your kind words, I feel the same way about your work that I just saw in the Gallery!! Beautiful!!

This is amazing! I love all the colors and the theme. It looks pretty heavy – which I like in bracelets – what string/wire do you think works best for the variety of beads that you use?

    thegreenzebra says:

Thanks very much AGKParker! So I use Soft Flex wire, .019 medium 49 strand – it seems really strong and long lasting, good for heavy beads, you know?
