It's a beginning...

About this design:

Maybe that’s what we’re meant to do. Begin again. Many times, throughout our life. And if we’ve made a little progress since the last beginning, we won’t begin again from where we started the last time. We will start a little further along on our journey.

Wow, am I getting too philosophical, here? In the positive, I believe we are given as many fresh starts as we can handle in this journey.

I really did think that with all the “forced” slow down of life with the pandemic, I would jump at the opportunity to get in there and create great pieces of jewelry. The ones, you know, “if only I had the time”. Well, that didn’t happen.

And I gained 12 pounds.

While I did do some bits and bobs, I have nothing to share except these two simple palomas I made today. Painting some brass stamped butterflies and adding another hole to let tiny Swarovski crystals dangle down below. Finished with an 18 inch chain and another sweet crystal. This is all I can manage right now. More complicated makings get me in a tizzy. Meanwhile, I'll take this small pleasure.

stamped brass butterflies, metal patina paints, gold chain and findings, Swarovski crystals

They are both lovely Lynda. I have always loved your simple , yet always elegant designs. We’ve had the choice…to use this pandemic as a time for better know what our hopes and dreams are. What have we down to manifest these dreams. Or, just be angry at the inconveniences of it all.

These are lovely. I know just what you mean. Sometimes I can manage to do something simpler, but the kinds of pieces I really need to be in the “zone” for are not happening. And I gained a lot of weight too, but I have been working on it for the last month. Beginning again is just the right thing to do. Create when you feel like it.

Fresh starts & new beginnings–something to really think about. What is more perfect than a butterfly to say this. Many of us are still trying to adjust to the ‘new norm,’ even after all this time–and creating really helps to keep me sane through this all. I love the simplicity of these designs & the application of the paints that really bring them to ‘life’. Keep creating, keep finding joy in it, and eventually the desire to try some of those more challenging projects will come. Thanks for sharing your thoughts–the reflections are good for the soul.

You have made a lovely pair of butterflies into a spectacular pair of butterflies. Love the addition of color. No matter how hard we try life never goes along in a smooth line. It’s just a series of fits and starts or at times in my life fits, starts and blank spaces.
