Art Deco or Moon Phases?

About this design:

Every year we look forward to Lima’s crossword puzzle & have a blast figuring out all the words. Not to divulge our age, but we figured out today’s word ‘acetate’ as soon as we printed out the puzzle. Got me thinking about the acetate pieces I’d purchased a while back, and decided to try an idea I had when I bought them. (It seems when I’m looking at the great selection of beads on the site—ideas are flying. Then, when they arrive, I seem to forget what those ideas are. This time, I drew out a picture on a little sheet of paper to remind me of what I was thinking when I purchased them.) So I whipped up the links, organized it on my beading mat, and it came together nicely without too much fuss. I think I’ll get a few more of these links—they really are a lot of fun to work with.

I couldn’t decide on a name for this one—what do you all think? And do any of you forget your ideas when your packages arrive? Or is it just me? :)

Acetate links (LB), Czech coins & nugget (LB), Grey Agate (LB), SP findings.

I think something celestial…You did a great job with these links , Crystal. Wonderful idea. I think I get the beads and whatever I had planned doesn’t seem to work. It’s a good idea to sketch it.

Crystal – this is a fantastic bracelet! I think moon phases fit it well. I have a copybook that I draw and writes ideas and list the components in. Sometimes I will write on whatever piece of paper is available, even paper napkins in a restaurant. I sometimes forgot what I was going to do when my order comes in.

I love the way you used the acetate and incorporated the agates. It looks great. That should give today’s LB sale a lift for sure. I have quite a pile of the acetate pieces and this helps get the ideas going. Into my favorites it goes. Thanks for sharing.

I forget every order and continually scold myself for making notes. I even have a few notebooks just for that purpose! This is a terrific piece but am not too sure how you would wear it.

Strangely I see art deco ( I may be watching way too much boardwalk empire reruns lately ) but it’s totally giving me crystler building vibes …either way I love your use of the acetate components I have yet to try them out but you may have inspired me …this is great !!

Thank You Everyone! The acetates can be challenging–it took a while to see how many of the shapes can be used in designs. I’m going to get some more & hope you all give them a try too. Would love to see what you come up with.

**Kimbery – I saw Art Deco right away too, then after staring at it trying to think of a name for it, I saw the moon phases. Not sure what to call it.
**Chicky Grammy – I forgot to mention it was a bracelet. I’ll try to take a picture of it on, but camera battery just died and need to recharge.

All of your kind comments are much appreciated! :)

Chicky Grammy, well here’s a picture of the bracelet on. I wasn’t going to post this picture, but retake it on a rolling pin–how ghastly to see how old my arms are getting!

Crystal, This is great! I love the way you put the pieces together, so much more than just stringing beads onto something. I also love your honesty. Yeah, I see something I love, order it then when I get it I think, what did I get that for?!?!!? I am not a note taker, maybe I need to change.

Crystal, This is a great bracelet. I like the idea of calling it Moon phases because the center moon does look like it has shadow on it- like the moon has them. This is truely an original idea and will open up some conversation/I really like this!
