Purple bird
by Robin nursechick on 01/18/22
About this design:
As y’all have rightly guessed, I’m on a nature kick with my jewelry making. We have so many beautiful birds wintering here. Including 2 bald eagles sitting on a nest they built 3 years ago- they keep coming back to the same nest. We are so blessed to have such beautiful creatures among us!
Components:
I used a polymer clay bird with tiny Czech flowers below her. I made the chain with different Czech flowers, bicones and crystals. The secondary chain is a piece of rosary chain. I used antique brass findings. Added a little patina to the clasp.Read the comments (or add your own)

Crystal Canary says:Robin, this is beautiful! The colors draw you in right away. I like the flowers throughout including the buds beneath the bird focal. Nature is a common theme for me too as it brings good feelings & peace having my mind with the wondrous beauties that abound all around us. Love the painted toggle. What product are you using to color them? I’d be afraid a paste or something might wear off. It’s a great idea pulling the closure right into the piece. Keep up the great nature work–it’s bringing me a tremendous amount of joy!

Robin nursechick says:Crystal, it’s ranger ink brand and then I put a gloss sealer(same brand)on it. The background is a piece of cardstock- I love that paper!

Melody F says:Oooh, I love this one! I’ve been collecting flower beads and bird beads, but haven’t made anything yet. This necklace is truly inspiring. I will save it to my favorites and when I get going (I hope) I will refer to it for inspiration. I don’t know about making my own chain or bead links however. Thank you for sharing.

Robin nursechick says:Beady, no I didn’t do the background- it’s a piece of cardstock (used for scrapbooking).

kye says:Oh my! This is fantastic. Everything about this post is wonderful. The necklace is a combination of the floral and animal pieces you’ve been posting lately. Somehow it looks modern and antique at the same time to me. The colors first got my attention then the wonder of all the various elements. Oh and the photograph and background are excellent too. Super work Robin. Wow!

sweetjane says:Birds and flowers….what could be better! Love the Czech flowers, and the purple bird is great. I’ve got a raccoon pendant I got from Nancy that I never made into anything. I’m having second thoughts about it..and maybe I should make it into something.

Jogi says:Oh, this is beautiful! I agree, the colors draw you in and your eyes wander around the chain and colorful flower beads. Wonderful piece! I keep sleeping in and missing my bluebirds sitting out on my small gingko tree. Bad me. Heading out tomorrow for another week of work so this helps make up for missing them! I love birds!
