Midnight at the Oasis

About this design:

I haven't made anything for quite a while. I've been busy with other projects and dealing with mood issues as well. Midnight at the Oasis is the name of a pretty cool song.

Components:

Faceted glass crystals, glass cabochon, silky bead, 18 and 24 guage wire, and a ball chain.

We can only spend time in the Oasis late at night. Hence I chose the name of the song Midnight at the Oasis for this one. First thing I’ve accomplished in some time, but I have been working on this outdoor space and other projects.

Very nice! I am enjoying your freeform pendants. I started off with freeform beadwraps but haven’t done any in a long time. The addition of coiling ups its style.

Thanks Stingray. Looks like the description finally came through. My phone service is terrible.

This is absolutely gorgeous wrapping and makes the beads bring the wrapping front and center. What is the dark stone under the beautiful top stone?

Thanks everyone. It felt good to tune out all the bad news and focus on making something. It’s been a while. My mood has been all over the place and I have been focusing on trying to create more beauty in the Oasis for myself and the creatures. I wanted to show you a little of that but my internet is very unstable tonight. I made a fountain for the birds and now they come fluttering in to drink and bathe. I had to put a ton of rocks in it because a couple of bees drowned and I felt terrible. They are thirsty too. Do you ever think, by God, someplace should be protected from misery and unhappiness? Keeping out the evil, at least here on this tiny space, is my responsibility now. I’m learning to grow a few vegetables. I dote on the these plants and get nothing, LOL. But I may yet. I have solar flowers and lights and a gazing ball in a crescent moon to gaze upon at midnight. Pam, that dark piece is just a black glass faceted crystal. Thank you Bev and Sweetjane. I’ve got to do something for Tracy’s birthday. I have no idea what.

This is such a beautiful pendant with all the embedded beads within the coiling. I have no idea how you even begin to create something so lovely. We all need a place to escape, to find quiet & peace of mind, and I’m glad you’ve been able to work on creating that for yourself. Keep at it with your vegetables–the reward for the hard work is well worth it. We’ve been enjoying our Zucchini in every form & fashion. I hope to try some bread with it soon. I’d love to see some photos of your Oasis. You can post them here in the comment section if the above post won’t take them. Hang in there & enjoy your little critters & friends. The bees thank you for the rocks. :)

I love your pendant KR. The colors are beautiful. It has a nice balance and the coiling is fantastic.
I would also love to see your Oasis. What kind of veggies are you growing? I have mostly tomatoes and cucumbers – also eggplants and peppers and many herbs. I didn’t plant green and yellow beans this year but bought some from my local nursery. Made 10 pints of 3 bean salad.

You are so on top of it Beady! I have only a container garden this year. I killed a lot of seedlings before I got some to grow and survive. I have peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatillas, sage, and butternut squash. I already had a fig, lemon, grapefuit, and pomegranate, so they do produce. I do have a couple of tiny yellow squash that may develop. Who knows. Saw a bee trying to get to a squash flower that was already closed and I had a conversation with that guy about doing his job. He needs to go where the open flowers are, LOL. I may take a walk later this evening and see if I have better success uploading with the library’s internet. I may have to get another phone service. This has been a problem for a couple of months now. I think it’s more important to me right now that I bling the place up so I can relax, although I should try to raise some food these days. I found an arched trellis on Walmart’s website for $32! It should be here soon. Plants can grow up it and I’ll get a couple more humingbird feeders to hang under it. Those guys are keeping me sane. They come right up to my face and look at me, buzz a bit, then off they go. I had a handyman out here and they did it to him. He goes “whoa.” I’m stocking sugar for them so they will always be fed no matter how bad things get. Ok, enough babble. Maybe there will be a picture later.

Lovely space to commune with the animals. Henri looks like he enjoys it also. What a fun space!

    Crystal Canary says:

K, your Oasis is really coming along nicely. We can see Henri likes it & probably enjoys watching the critters as much as you do. Yard art & statues add to the charm of the setting, a bird bath is a must, and your hummingbird feeders will keep them coming back. Having a space like this to retreat to helps keep us grounded in this wild & crazy world. Thanks for posting the pictures.

KR – Your garden sounds wonderful. I love the flavor of tomatillos. but I didn’t grow any this year. It’s great that you have fruit trees unfortunately it’s too cold to grow them here. I especially miss the figs.

    K Ralston says:

Thanks Crystal and Beady. My budget doesn’t permit me to do everything I would like all at once. I know you both love nature as much as I do. I’m going to try to clear my head and get more jewelry made now.

This is a stunning design! I find that making organic shapes look good (especially combined with elegant, faceted pieces) is a lot harder than it looks. You nailed it with this one.
