Boney James

About this design:

Not my best work but I need to start producing stuff. Romeo has been coming along, but today he had a terrible day. He's been crying so much it breaks my heart. I have been playing Boney James for him tonight as this music has helped me through the worst of times. It seems to be helping him as well.

Components:

Faceted glass beads, rhinestone clasp, metal beads.

It’s been a tough day. Despite the fact that the people who live where Romeo hung out do not want him, he considers that his home, and their dogs his pack. It will take time to forget. I hate to admit this, but I once was so lost that I was admitted briefly to a psychiatric hospital – long ago. It took many years and a ton of money to understand that they can’t help me. When things were unbearable, I would play Boney James, put on the headphones, close my eyes tightly, and shut out everything. Romeo needs music, and happiness, and me. He is ugly. His jaw seems a bit off kilter, and I wonder if someone hurt him. This front legs seem to bow out abnormally but it doesn’t slow him down. I pinned another of my short sleeved shirts on him tonight so he’ll feel swaddled and warmer. His sweater should be here in a few days. His pain brings back my pain, and so tonight we listen to Boney. I think it’s working.

Those beads seem to glow, like they have light within. We know you have light within, and a giving spirit. Thanks for posting. I look forward to seeing more.

I agree with Melody about the lighted beads. So lovely. I’m sure Romeo will find peace and comfort in his new pack. Sometimes it takes a while even when life’s better. You’re a good momma.

Good morning ladies. I thought if no one had seen this yet, I would take it down. Over sharing and all, LOL. But you all are very tolerant. The beads are kind of opalescent and do glow. My guy is sleeping right now in my improvised shirt sweater. I was tired last night but I got up and provided entertainment. Music, dancing (ha, turns out he isn’t much of a dancer) and we moved some furniture and did some cleaning, so he got some exercise and distraction following me all over the house. When I woke up I found him sleeping right next to me, which he doesn’t usually do. He’s going to have some bad days and I just have to keep him busy, I guess.

    K. Ralston…you are a wonderful dog mama and Romeo was fortunate to have found you . It sounds like he’s making some progress. To have a kind and giving spirit is what we all should aspire to. I love your post…don’t ever think you should take them done. There is no shame in a stay at a psychiatric hospital…I have been in many.

Wow. Romeo is warming up to you fast! Too bad he can’t dance. Ha.

K, playing music, especially the soft relaxing kind like Boney should instantly calm his mind & heart. I like your idea of keeping Romeo ‘busy’ along your side & helping him feel part of the family–which I’m sure he did. And even if he’s not a dancer now, he’ll surely be one before it’s all over! To find him sleeping next to you must have melted your heart, and there will be many more of those moments to enjoy in the future. A little time is often all any of us need to adjust to new things. Your necklace is lovely with the ‘glowing’ show of the opalescent faceted glass beads. And please, never feel you should take a post down–we are all here to support one another & share in each others ups & downs. Here’s another hug dear one. >>HUG<<

    K. you have enough love and caring in you to help Romeo recover. Don’t ever feel ashamed of being in a psychiatric hospital. I worked in the state fun one in my hometown for 12 years. They were like ordinary people. Many of them with unusual circumstances and many with sad reasons. One elderly gentleman had been there for 20+ years. 3 generations of my family has worked there.

Your necklace and earrings attracted me with their beautiful glow! I may just have to try them.

You guys are all so awesome. Romeo’s new sweater just arrived. It’s slightly big in the chest area so I pinned it in back, but I think it will fit better when he gains some weight. I bought a smaller one for Noodle Soup and her’s fits perfectly. Henri will get one but I wanted to see how the sizes ran first, and sure enough he’s too fat for even the larger one.

Beautiful design with the lamp-lit beads. I’ve been lurking on this site admiring everyone’s work for a long time. I am a full-time caregiver so rarely have time to log-in and comment. Your post touched me. Anyone who can give their time and heart to a lost, abandoned dog is worth the entire world. He’s found a new family and so have you.

K, Romeo’s sweater is adorable on him! It should help him feel safe. I’d love to see a picture of all three with their new sweaters on when Henri’s is ordered & arrives.

Yeah I think he looks cute in this sweater too. Yesterday was a turning point for him, I think. He did quite a bit of whining early in the day, but I took that curtain you see in the picture with him above, and hung it on the outside of the fence of the Oasis so he couldn’t easily see the road. It seems to help a lot. At 4pm he took a long nap, and when he got up he was much improved. He’s been playing with the others and jumping right up on the furniture and bed without hesitation. The sun’s out today so we got some time outside to play, while I did patrol around the Oasis to make sure there is no weakness where he can dig or push, or see out. He’s playing a little with the others. He hasn’t forgotten, but he’s forgetting now.
