Atmospheric River

About this design:

Here in California we are having waves of atmospheric rivers. I had never even heard that term before. Gale winds, deluge rains, and power outages. So I made this bracelet that I call Atmospheric River. I've got the gray and black base for the gloomy days, the winding river across the bracelet, with rhinestone buttons for pools of water. There are many raindrops, and a whirlpool at the end of the river. Hope you like it.

Components:

8/0, 6/0, and 11/0 seed beads, rhinestone buttons, lots of beading thread.

Such a beautiful, blingy river. A gorgeous bracelet!
I’m also hearing terms for climate that I’ve never heard before. What’s up?

Beautiful eye catching bracelet. It will grab as much attention as all the new weather terms. I can’t imagine how hard it must be living there through this mess that you are going through. California is on my prayer list.

    K. Ralston…this is an absolutely stunning design!! I just love it! So sorry the weather is so extreme there…hopefully you won’t lose power. Where I live is known for its mild climate…but we have had recent extremely low temps…like single digits. Crazy weather I’m afraid is here to stay.

K, your beaded cuff is beautiful! The “river” really stands out against the dark background and with wonderful bling. I wish you and everyone in CA to stay safe with your weather – our thoughts are with all of you.

Good morning everyone – well, it’s almost noon. I stayed up to finish the bracelet since Romeo wouldn’t let me sleep anyway. He’s gotten a little more skittish since New Years Eve and all the storms literally banging the house. We lost power for up to 24 hours, but I have a few devices for light and cell phone power and that made it a little more endurable, except for the noise. But nothing fell on my house, and I wasn’t flooded, although it’s SO SQUISHY everywhere. The sun has come out for the moment. It’s not going to last but we are out getting what sun we can. Thank you all for the nice words. I haven’t been so productive since life changed, and I haven’t really felt like what I have managed to make is my best work, or at least not the kind of thing I really like to make. But I like this bracelet. Romeo has put on some much needed weight. He wakes me up every night wanting another 2am meal. It’s like I have a newborn, LOL. Exhausting. Beady, we in California are nothing if not pretentious. I don’t know when hurricanes became atmospheric rivers, but these are hurricanes. When the winds are 65 mph and more, and trees are ripped out of the ground, and it floods – well, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.:)

Oh my, what a beautiful piece! Your ‘beaded interpretation’ of the severe weather conditions has made beauty amidst adversity. I can only imagine how disconcerting it is for both yourself & the gang–I’d sure be hiding in the corner or closet! Big storms frighten me terribly as severe weather can be so destructive. But you have taken this event to create beauty–so inspiring.

Beautiful bracelet! Sorry about the weather. It seems to be missing Oregon, which is fine with me! I have relatives in California.

So funny KR. So the rough and tumble Romeo was a little needy after all. So glad he found a home with you. Your bracelet is especially beautiful. My favorite.
Yes, they said we were having bomb cyclones here (?). I agree – it’s a duck.
So sorry about your power loss. Hope you are doing well.
