Got the blues?

About this design:

I love wire wrapping those gears! I used a black painted gear & entrapped a lapis cabochon. The second necklace is made with a 5-prong spool knitter. I used a draw plate to narrow it & straighten it out.

Components:

Blue cotton cord, gunmetal findings, silver coated copper wire, lapis cab, black gear. Royal blue coated copper wire, tiny freshwater pearls, silver finished cones, silver plated findings.

Both necklaces are neat! I am new to wire working, and I wonder if I might try something similar to your wrapped gear, on a simpler scale, perhaps with fewer spokes. I definitely like the idea of a cold capture in metal of a stone cabochon. Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful way to secure the Lapis cab by wire wrapping it on top the gear! The effect of the silver & black is striking as it really brings attention the beautiful stone. I love how you ‘knitted’ the tiny pearls within the blue wire too. Excellent work and a nice show of some other techniques in the jewelry making world.
